According to the Executive Producer of Gears, Rod Fergusson, the next XP multiplier will all depend on how many twitter followers he gets before Comic Con begins (that is when the next XP event will occur).
 
He will take the number of followers and divide it by 500 to get the XP multiplier. The goal is 4,000 followers for 8x XP again, but if he gets 5,000 follows, we will be looking at 10x XP. And it won't stop there, it can continue to 6,000 and beyond. 
 
So far, Rod has 4,404 followers, so we already have 8x, but why stop there?

I'm more interested in horde mode with just simple enemies like they had before...the updates they did to gimp the games weapons and smoke grenades make horde all most impossible even with 4 players.

Sounds good since i play gears 2 but also bad since I hate twitter with a passion.

Seems that Rod is going to cap it at 10,000 followers, which will give us 20x XP. 
 
He is at 9,654 right now, so he should have 10,000 soon enough. 
 
UPDATE: Well, it's done. We have our 20x 
Rod now had a total of 10,037 followers that is still growing.

Rofl he has 10k+ followers that's an insane amount of bonus XP if this is for real.

maybe if they fixed bullet lag and host advantages people would care

With such a large XP multiplier, I bet the horde will be harder instead of easier (like it usually is for special events). Regardless, I'll try to gain as many levels as possible during the event.
