Dismissing Jim's opinions, positive or negative, doesn't help the situation at hand. Devs are being treated as if they are gods, and have developed a complex surrounding their work. Reading Jim's review, I thought he was more than fair to a game that followed two utterly amazing titles. Like he said, the bar was set so high, that the game needed to do something amazing. I mean...people....80%. For those of you that went to/are attending college, would you not kill for that kind of grade?
Devs don't get a free pass just because they make triple A titles. Despite everything else said in that review, people focus on the score, because numbers are easier to read than words right?
Wrong. People see the number 8, and their entitlement complex flares up yet again. People have become too used to games getting a 9/10, 10/10 rating, because they're triple A titles, and hang those who disagree with them. I mean god damn, it was an 8...and god freaking dammit...it was a well written review. He literally gave the game 1 score less than any other site...and suddenly people reach for their torches and pitchforks to kill him, because a single digit, and upper scale of 1-10, is bad?
Despite what people may think of Jim, his review was fair, well written, and informative, and basing your opinions on his score, or belief that he is a 'troll', is actually what he's addressing in this article. People put far too much stock in scores, but even at that, they've become so blind to the 1-10 scale that they can't possibly see past said score and read the damn review.
And devs need to understand their place. Childish fuckers.
