We’ll be playing Gears of War Judgment in March of next year, revealed Epic Games director of production Rod Fergusson on an X-Play segment at Comic-Con yesterday.

Fergusson wouldn’t get more specific than the month of March, but teased the rest would be revealed at the Gears of War Judgment panel scheduled for later today at Comic-Con.

Gears of War Judgment was revealed just prior to E3, a not-so-surprising fourth installment in Epic Games’ shooter franchise. It's a little surprising it's coming so quickly, though. Judgment takes place 14 years prior to the events of the original Gears of War, and follows Damon Baird, Augustus Cole, and two new squadmates that make up Kilo Squad. Plus, it’s being developed in Sweden by People Can Fly, so hopefully it's a little bit...crazier than usual.

I think 18 months is an acceptable gap for a spin off sequel. Similarly sized franchises seem to do well with annualised titles I don't see why this would be too soon for Gears.

I guess Sweden and Poland are both part of Foreignia: The Otherland.

I was thinking the same thing - unless People Can Fly have an office in Sweden for some reason.

Joined by (pick two of) A younger, more rebellious Tai, who, throughout the game becomes more religious as the horrors of war sink in; Earl Carmine, Father of the Carminesiblings, their inspiration for joining the military; and a currently unnamed female squad member who is Butch to compliment Baird's Sassy. Expect a young Anya as coms support, a rookie with great test scores but little field experience.

Well, it's technically 25 months since People Can Fly's last game (Bulletstorm), and Gears 3 had been pushed an entire year out of 2010 to 2011. People Can Fly probably started work on Judgement 3-4 months before Gears 3 was released. If Gears had come out on its original date, this would actually seem like it was a little late rather than early.

Well, I wouldn't go as far to say none of them (although, I will say that I am a skeptic as Mr. Pilkington is), but if they ever do come out, it won't be for a while. This generation didn't start seeing re-releases of old games until well into its lifecycle, and I don't see this generation being any different.

It's unnecessary. They just finished a trilogy last year. There's no need for yet another Gears Of War game, and those satisfied with Gears Of War 3's multiplayer will be satiated until the next round of consoles, (not sure if multi is confirmed for GoWJ).

Although they both reside in Europe, Poland and Sweden are otherwise two vastly different countries. People Can Fly happens to be located in the former not the latter.

This is definite proof of a new console launching (Holiday) 2013. Otherwise Gears wouldn't be released so soon. 360 usually holds a Halo/Gears release for the fall.

Interesting to see this game coming in spring, I was definitely expecting it to come a lot later in the year.
