GetMeBro! is an multiplayer runner game created by two friends Ondrej Dobsinsky and Miroslav Hornak, produced by GimmeBreak Games, a game development studio founded in 2015. Currently the game is accessible for free for beta testing on iOS, Android and Windows devices and will be released at the end of April 2016 with the launch event taking place in Prague.

GetMeBro! is set in a dark and grim atmosphere and has a big emphasis on the visual side of the game with the map and web page using mainly three colours: black, white and red. New characters, spells and items for the map are constantly being designed and added to the game.

Creators of the game have left us wondering why the world looks so grim and daunting. There have been talks about a story mode that will be added to the game in the future.

    Gameplay

The game is played by tapping on the screen with a right thumb for the character to make smaller and bigger jumps. By tapping the screen with a left thumb the character uses spells. The aim of the game is for the players to run as fast as they can and as far as they can to ultimately overrun or kill opponents in a multiplayer game mode.

When entering the game players can choose between Ranked, Solo and a Private match.

Ranked matches are available only for 2 hours every day (20:00-22:00 UTC). In Ranked matches the opponents are matched by how high or low they are ranked in the universal ranking table to allow them to play with equally good contestants.

Solo matches are playable any time and no internet connection is needed. These help individuals to practise alone before testing their abilities against other players. The map changes every week and to master the new map with all different skillsets to become number one in the world practise is indeed needed.

Private matches can be played with all (public game), with friends only or with selected friends. In order to do this one player creates a game, joins an empty slot and waits for another player to join the other empty slot. There is also a spectator mode for these matches, which makes it ideal for tournaments or smaller parties.

There is also a tutorial for beginners to learn the basics.

    Spells

Currently there are three types of spells: utilities, defensive and offensive. Utilities give the character speed or help them avoid obstacles. Defensive spells protect from the opponent’s attacks and help to avoid being slown down by the thorns. Offensive spells are used to slow down the other player or hide dangerous obstacles from them.

    Brocoins

Another important aspect to the game is collecting Brocoins. These red fire balls can be collected in any game mode and used to customise the character. In ranked matches only the winner receives Brocoins. To speed up the process of earning Brocoins players have to complete 3 quests they receive when they log on to the game. The quests have to be completed within a 24 hour slot and most of the assignments can only be fulfilled during ranked matches. Once a player has completed all three quests they receive an extra 200 Brocoins.

    Music

Music plays an important part in the game and is created by a composer Peter Dobsinsky. An interesting fact is that the developers of GetMeBro! had the piece of music used in the game before they even started coding the game.
