    Overview

A Ghost Racer is an element found in racing games & time trial modes where previous attempts on the course can be loaded into the current race. These "ghosts" do not have any effect on the current race, as players can pass right through them without any impact. They simply allow players to see in real time how well they're doing compared to a previous attempt.

While Ghost Racers were initially just previous runs saved on the system locally, the advent of online competition has allowed players to load up a friend's ghost, or even load up any racer on the leaderboards.
