    I was born really late. I'm young. And while my father did a good job in getting me into Star Wars, he never tried it with Ghostbusters. Yet, something about this game makes me want to play it. My question is, is the game okay for newcomers to ghostbusters or can it only be enjoyed if I watched the films?

    I'd highly suggest you watch the films first no matter what.  Why not right?  Gotta be cheaper than buying the game too.

    I would suggest that you watch the movies first also. Not so much because you need it for the game but because they are great movies (better then the game honestly) and it will help you get the most out of the humour in the game as well.

    Personally I don't think there is any point playing the game besides rabid fanboyism. Like, if you haven't seen the Movies 1. Why the hell not?!? Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time! and 2. There isn't much point considering its mostly just in jokes....

    The entire game is a giant reference to the first movie.

    @Kombat:

    Yeah, i dont see why he has to watch the movies first, its not like the movies had huge plot lines or anything.

    I disagree.  He should at least watch the first movie so that he understands all of the references.  You could probably rent it digitally from Amazon or something for a few bucks.

    The movies are timeless. After 25 years, the story is still great, the jokes are still great, and the watching it now the CG was amazing for a 1980s movie. You should definitely watch the movies first so you can get the references and jokes.

    Hmm, well since I live in Singapore, I'm gonna have to do some searching. I'll get Prototype first then, hunt down the movies, watch them, then get this game. Thanks guys.
