A Nice Return to the Movie Series

The de facto third Ghostbusters movie is out, in game form. You are a new recruit of the Ghostbusters, whose job is primarily to test out new equipment. You have no name, but I actually like the way they explain it (you might die and they "don't want to get too close"). The game does pay homage to the two movies nicely, I'll say, but the second movie is basically retired to the sidelines for the most part. The only real major part of the game that involves that horrid little flick is your slime gun, which actually is one of the more enjoyable devices to use. They have surprisingly good re-creations of the original Ghostbusters --- they actually look really good and I was amazed.

A collection of Gozer artifacts are about to be put on display and, well, bad stuff happens. Stay Puft reappears. The Hotel Sedgewick is a site of another ghost infestation. It's a great deal of fun.

I'll say this, this is the greatest Atari game in years. The levels are excellently laid out. The enemies are well varied (52 or so in total). The only real issue is the camera. It has the curse of 3rd person games in that the camera can become a major opponent of yours.

The weaponry is actually a lot of fun. You can use the Stasis Beam where you basically freeze the game. The Slime Gun actually has one of the most enjoyable firing modes out there. You can lay a trap and then attach a line of slime from the trap to the ghost and use that to catch the ghost. Takes a bit of work, but it is fun. You also get to fight some interesting enemies. The fight against Stay Puft is, sadly, very anti-climactic, but it is the only disappointing boss in the game, so it's all good. The puzzles are fairly unimaginative, which is a bit of a downer.

It's not the best game on the market, but it is one of the truly great movie tie-ins and a thoroughly enjoyable affair.

We have been waiting over 10 years for another ghostbusters game on home consoles, and not since Ghostbusters on Sega Genisis were we given anything worth plaing.  Well finally, Atari delivered us a Ghostbusters game not just worth playing, but worth owning. When the game was first announced I didn't even consider buying it, due to Ghostbusters' video game past. But just days before it came out I gave in and preordered it, so take this review as it's coming from someone who wasn't even going to P...

Ghostbusters The Video Game Review 0

To those out there who couldn't get enough of the Ghostbusters movies and have been dying for more, let me introduce you to the game that is basically Ghostbusters 3. With the entire lead cast voicing this adventure you'll find yourself pleading that this game was a movie. You take on the role as the rookie, and will be fighting along side all the other Ghostbusters as you try to figure out what is going on in New York. You'll visit old familiar places, and recognize some evil faces. You'll beco...
