Homura is an arcade style shoot-em-up that was released for the PS2 in Japan and Europe.
CAVE's first shoot-'em-up to use third-party arcade hardware (and their first side-scrolling shoot-'em-up). It is known for its distinct steampunk aesthetic and its "Gunflyer" supporting ship mechanic.
The fifth game in the 194X series of shoot 'em ups, 1944 was developed by Eighting/Raizing and plays more like earlier games in the series.
The game's full name is Mars Matrix: Hyper Solid Shooting. Vertical Spaceship Shooter. The game features frantic gameplay. Projectiles come at you from everywhere. Luckily, the ships have a reflect system to deflect the enemy fire. The game would later get a Dreamcast port.
Giga Wing is a 1999 vertical shooter from Capcom; it is well-known for the incredible amount of points that a player can collect in the game.
