    Short summary describing this game.

Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium last edited by DocHaus on 04/30/24 12:37PM View full history

Made with several updates including more 3D models instead of the chibi 2D models from the original game, more focus on strategy and unit placement a la XCOM instead of Echelons full of gun girls. The sequel is not meant to replace the first Girls' Frontline, but to run alongside it.

    Setting

Eastern Europe in 2074, 12 years after the start of Girls' Frontline. Griffin and Kryuger has been dismantled by the government who felt it had become too powerful, but the Commander continues to lead their Tactical Dolls (T-Dolls) while chasing bounties aboard their mobile base, known as Amos. As they return from a delivery mission in the contaminated zone, they are attacked by an unknown force who seizes their cargo, which contains a mysterious girl. The Commander must retake the cargo and uncover old secrets and conspiracies linked to relics.

    Development

GFL2 was announced on May 15, 2020, alongside Project Neural Cloud and the (now-cancelled) spinoff Glitch Land. A 3D model of HK416 and a silhouette of OTs-14 were shown as part of a teaser for the game. The game received a first closed beta test between June 29-July 3 2021, and a second from October 18-31 that same year. A third closed beta, titled “Spark Test”, was held between July 20-August 3, 2023. In an August 2023 interview, Producer Yuzhong estimated that the expended budget spent on the game was over 100 million RMB (over 13.7 million USD, or 12.8 million EUR at the time), and explained that the visual direction of the game was inspired by the game Code Vein.

The fourth beta test and first open beta, named “Gravitation Test”, took place from September 28 to October 12, 2023 on Android and PC. CN servers opened for all platforms on 21 December 2023, with story missions up to chapter 6 made available. At this time, there are plans to expand the game to more regions than just China, but no specific release dates have been announced.
