The ferocious ruler of the kingdom of Fandaria in Dragon Force. Initially plays the role of the game's main antagonist.

    Short summary describing this character.

Known as the mad lion for his ferocity and battle prowess, Goldark's escape from imprisonment and usurpation of his brother's throne through murder gave the rest of Legandra much cause for concern. When Goldark's nation of Fandaria declared war on the rest of the continent, the continent's fears were realized.

While Goldark casts himself as a power-hungry dictator, his own inner agenda is somewhat more complex.

As a playable character, Goldark is a physically powerful general with solid command of troops and effective spells.

His attacks are Sonic Boom, Holy Blast and Cross Rush.

    Goldark's army

Goldark's initial army is one of the strongest in the game, with several outstanding generals, several of whom start at unusually high levels.

KARHAZ - A handsome and honorable knight known for his great swordmanship. He hopes to be given land to rule by Goldark when the war ends. Together with Lyria, he strives to reinforce Goldark's conscience. As a unit, he is one of the game's best knights.

GAUL - A scheming magician who serves as Goldark's right hand, he claims that his magic skills make him invincible. Mages under his command can slaughter an enemy army before it crosses the battlefield, while his spells can finish off any survivors and brutalize the enemy general.

SCYTHE - Gaul's partner in crime is a cruel and violent woman. Alike Gaul, she has a hidden agenda to pursue, and seems to encourage Goldark towards a more malevolent path. Scythe is a Spirit User with a fairly unique skillset and great stats. Her Golem spell is especially effective in mage duels.

LYRIA - Originally an orphan of war, she is totally devoted to Goldark despite her disdain for conflict. Perhaps the weak link in Fandaria's initial force, while not a bad priest, Lyria isn't on the level of the rest of the initial generals who are uniformly exceptional.

    Storyline enemies

Having slain his brother Gyzzdark to usurp the throne, Goldark now must contend with Gyzzdark's vengeful son Talon. Talon's generals are varied, and all effective, making them arguably the strongest initial opposition any monarch has to face. They are all immediately recruited afterwards, enabling Fandaria to have one of the largest and most powerful armies early on.

TALON - Goldark's nephew who wants to avenge his father. A good, well-rounded knight who becomes loyal when recruited

AISHA - Talon's fiance. She is a solid priest. Oddly, she doesn't become loyal when she joins.

HAGANE - A narcissistic monk from Izumo, who took up martial arts rather than swordsmanship for the sake of aesthetics. He is an otherwise formidable monk, though he only learns 2 skills and has low MP.

VIPER - A mercenary who once slew a hundred bandits, but lost an eye in the battle. Not as powerful as Talon or Nelson, but still a knight with no real shortcomings.

BAGRIL - An old soldier who values his experience, he is an old friend of Tradnor's Tsugal. His attack is quite low, but he is an otherwise effective Fighter.

NELSON, ERIN, MILEEN - While they are part of Talon's force, they are stationed in a separate castle. Recruiting Talon will cause them to join, though they can be defeated and captured separately. Nelson is a very good knight, but Erin, and particularly Mileen, leave something to be desired.

    Monstrous Reinforcements

Following a deal between Goldark and Gaul & Scythe, these monstrous generals are called into Fandaria's service.

ZADO - A vicious and ruthless dragonman. With 100 Dragon troops and a boatload of MP, he is an incredible destructive force.

RYSKIM - The rival of Vlad, this specter commands a large army of zombies. With a hefty amount of MP and an exceptional resurrect spell, he can conquer castles by himself.

SANTANA - Appears as a storyline enemy in Reinhart's game and a regular general in most other characters. Essentially a less-powerful Ryskim, he is still a good general.

KYOEM - Nemesis of Hayate and Mikhal, this version of Kyoem lacks his Phantasm spell, and is essentially just an unexceptional, generic ninja in terms of ability.

    Story mode

Goldark's scenario is probably the most unusual in the game. None of the conquered monarchs or their loyal officers join until all of the continent has been subjugated by Fandaria. While this might seem to put Goldark at a disadvantage, his army is sufficiently powerful to conquer the continent rather quickly, especially with the help of the monster generals.

Goldark's story mode is marked by a conflict between Karhaz & Lyria on one side, and Gaul & Scythe on the other as these core generals struggle to either reinforce or erode Goldark's conscience.
