Using a golf club to fight off monsters!

In the game of golf, a golf club is used to hit a golf ball down a course and into a hole in as few shots as possible. Clubs themselves can range in loft from around 8 degrees (driver), up to around 64 degrees (chipping wedge). Construction of golf clubs and shafts include various types of steel, titanium, and graphite. In real golf, and thus in the games that simulate it, the different types of club allow the ball to be propelled in different ways. Drivers are used to send the ball flying over long distances, wedges are used to chip the ball upwards, and putters are used for hitting the ball into the hole from a short distance away.

The golf club also plays a part in an iconic scene in Irrational Games' Bioshock. In the scene, the player finds the antagonist Andrew Ryan playing golf in their office and he subsequently orders them to kill him with his club, which they do, leaving it hanging from his eye socket. Golf clubs can semi-frequently be found in violent games due to the range and impact they provide a potential attacker.
