Dear motor racing fans

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released their official trailer for this, which appears to be a reenactment movie, about a guy called Jann Mardenborough, who enrols for a motor racing school, as he learns how to become a race car driver for his career. This is also kind of like the Ford v Ferrari movie in my opinion.

So what are your thoughts on this?

Edit: I'm wishing for the Gran Turismo franchise on PC.

That's worse than I could've imagined.

This looks like total boomer fodder, by the numbers up and down. Just last starfighter but Motorsport. I don’t care if it’s accurate or not to the real story it’s based on, it just looks profoundly generic, which honestly, is how I feel about the games too.

As someone who loves cars and racing, I feel like this isn't really geared towards my age bracket (35).

Yo, that's just an ad for the game. Most other game movies try to be movies.

What the hell... Neill Blomkamp?!

This looks terrible. Like @borgmaster said, just an extra long ad for the game. I could see a way to make this story into something interesting, but I just can't find anything good to say about what I'm seeing here. I actually enjoy this franchise, but it feels like trying to combine the subdued and very specific aesthetics of the games with a dramatic and rough racing story is like mixing water with engine oil.

"Hear the inspiring story of how Jann Harborough went from Gran Turismo whizzkid to Formula E Simulator driver...."

They should have just copied Tokyo Drift.

This needs to be this generation's Day of Thunder, not sure if it is though.
