Alright, we've seen the trailer, now lets try and dig into the details.

• Main protagonist could be Tommy Vercetti, as the narrator sounds like Ray Liotta. This version of Tommy seems to be older.
• Another protagonist could be CJ, shown as the person running away from the police at the end of the trailer.
• If both of these characters are in the game, perhaps Claude Speed could also be in this game, as it will have all 3 characters from the GTA III series.
• It's set in San Andreas (Los Angeles).
• Los Puerta, Little Seoul and Los Santos are all places mentioned.
• The Hollywood sign reads, "Vinewood".
• It's set in roughly present time.
• There are Jets. Not sure if they will actually be player controlled at any time.
• Animals may be confirmed as there is a dog in the very first scene.
• Golfing could be an activity.
• Jet Skis are shown.
• Cars that are convertibles can either have the roof up or down, as shown when the roof is automatically reclined.
• Working out can return?

And the implication that the main character is upper-middle class, and has a family seems awesome to me. Not enough games star middle aged family men.

There was dog at the start. Disappointed in no release date.

The announcer sounds like Ray Liotta.  Plus IGN showed a picture of Tommy Vercetti that was wearing the same suit as the older man in the trailer.

There better be jet packs. That is all. Nonetheless, I'm so hyped for this game! I want to play GTA IV again. Bahhhhhh!!!!

I'm watching the IGN live trailer disect and they seem to think that Ray Liotta (the guy who voiced Tommy Vercetti in Vice City) is doing the VO work in the trailer and that the older guy in the trailer is in fact an older version of Tommy Vercetti.

Also they think the guy running from the cops is CJ and that possibly all older GTA protagonists will feature in the game.

Just noticed the bridge. San Fierro?

Is the guy who talks the detective guy from Dexter, Joey Quinn? (Desmond Harrington is the actor name.)

Looked predictable, and boring.

Oh man I really hope it's Tommy Vercetti as main character again....

We really need to get away from this whole "OH MY GOD, WAS THAT BLACK GUY CJ?" mentality. There's dissecting a trailer and then there's blindly throwing out ideas for no reason. Nobody in that trailer looked like CJ, Claude or Tommy. As for the voice actor sounding like Tommy, last I hear he was still in dispute with Rockstar because he thought he should have been paid more for his part. Not sure if that was ever resolved though

I think there's going to be chemical weapons in the game since those guys storming the building had gas masks on. Also right before that in the trailer a plane sprays those guys on the mountainside

It's gonna be so awesomely awesome, but I've got Skyrim right now, and i couldn't care about any other game!

Hell, I gotta say, the trailer didn't really get me that much excited, but the thought of playing as Tommy again certainly did.

This makes me laugh. You guys really need to dig deeper. Tommy Vercetti would be into his late 50's in modern day. So no that is not him. Also why would Tommy Vercetti move from Vice City to Los Santos for the weather... it's warm in both places. Second the voice actor does not sound like Ray Liotta it sounds like Frank West. Rockstar only re casts the cities. Not the character. Even in 3 Claude Speed was not supposed to be Claude Speed, he later became that from fans assuming as such. Also the black guy is not CJ, and its a little racist to assume the black guy in the trailer is CJ just because it is a black guy in Los Santos. I have also heard speculation that this will be the entire San Andreas region. Which may be a possibility, but I also find it unlikely. If you take a recreated full size Los Santos as well as surrounding area there really isnt a need or space for the other cities. Just because the License plates say San Andreas does not mean its the whole area. Go outside and look at your plates. Do they say the name of your city? No, they say the name of your state. Also, I would love if this guy is a former criminal with a family now, but because of the financial crisis has to delve back into that world to support them. But by the sounds of it, he doesn't have the family yet, merely suggesting that is what he wants. Anyway, I don't mean to sound like I am pissing on everything but come on guys. Tommy Vercetti? CJ? Use your heads. This is a fresh take, not all recycled.

So pumped for this, we got shown a whole lot more than I expected for a debut GTA trailer. I imagine they've got production totally down from working on IV and Red Dead all those years, and I wouldn't be surprised if they wowed us and released this next year.

I don't get that wishful thinking about Tommy and CJ. Didn't GTAIV reboot the fucking continuity? Why would they suddenly return to the old one if it seems pretty clear Rockstar wants GTA to be a more serious game?

What I see it's possible we'll have two protagonists - those shots of the black guy and the older guy (running away from cops and the heist respectively, and also in cars) are kinda too long to be a coincidence.

That... looks nothing like CJ, and I'm not very sure about Vercetti, but I doubt that's him.

That aside though, I'm totally stoked.

Good eye, dude. I overlooked the dog. That guy running from the cops COULD possibly be CJ. That voice clearly isn't Ray Liotta, but what if you are playing as Claude Speed now and he's finally given a voice? It could fit. Plenty of reasons why he'd want to leave Liberty City. I like that idea, as crazy as it may be.

Me and a friend dissected the trailer over on our site with some thoughts. Gotta love this healthy speculation!

If you pause it at just the right moment you can see the police motto written on the side of the cop car (in lieu of Serve & Protect I reckon) is "Obey & Survive." That is new, right?

I feel really bad for all those poor officers I've been gunning down now.

Jets the reason I never beat San Andreas. Fuck that part, the best thing La Noire did was have the option to skip stuff you messed up enough on. ,

Far as I see it has the same 3 Island.. Los santos, Mountain is in San F I believe, and that Oil pump is in the Las Venturas Desert. Unless they mushed it all into one big clusterfuck

There is a wall in GTA IV with graffiti saying RIP to pretty much all of the old protagonists, so I don't think any of them are coming back.

When is it coming out and will there be a Wii U version?

Ok now I hope there´s no dogs or any other wild life in that game if people are just gonna use it as target practice , seriously people who shoot at (virtual) dogs in RDR have no soul.

You see three characters repeatedly through the trailer, an older white guy, a black guy, and a Hispanic looking guy, all of which are involved in that heist scene. Joystiq is theorizing that you will play as all three whose lives converge.
