Well now I am glad I decided to wait until the PC release. I just hope that it can perform alright on my new 980. = )

Grand Theft Auto V's Getting a First-Person Mode
this.
This is a really cool inclusion. I held out and didn't buy it when it first came out on the 360 to wait on the potential Xbox One version and was glad I did, but this sure seems like an addition that might make people who played through it already give it another go. Playing through the game in first-person after playing it in third-person sounds like a neat idea. I may do that on the X1 version. Good on Rockstar for adding something meaningful, if for no other reason than to shut up the "they're putting out the same game twice" crowd.
@quantical: And with the PC version coming out in January they could win a GOTY 3 years in a row.
I won't going to buy GTA V again, but then I saw the cockpit views. I guess I'm dumb enough to by any game that has a cockpit view for cars (actually, not really...but I will stupidly re-buy GTA V).
There's also nothing wrong with waiting an extra month and a half and picking it up on Amazon for $30. It's not like Rockstar needs the money.
Could it be? Could they convince me to buy the exact same game twice? Even though I havent' gotten half way through the first one??
Unexpected awesome news! My favorite kind! I was already interested to go back but feeling kind of like a chump about it - now I'm unapologetically pumped.
Hopefully, they'll go all the way with it and put some First-Person-only servers in multiplayer. Just let this whole thing go full-on Altis Life. Why not.
This made me realize that Far Cry is the only first person open world game/series I can think of. Also the way the minimap moves in relation to your viewpoint is soo good.
Don't forget the Elder Scrolls series.
I can take a lot of enjoyment from a vast, well-designed open environment to explore. Even without the "game" part (conversation trees, combat, crafting) I absolutely adore the feeling of inhabiting a carefully constructed virtual world.
The PC version is not "just GTA V," it's everything the modding community brings to the table. It will be a wildly different game thanks to the community
I already sold my 360 version to either buy xbox 1 or ps4 version in a few weeks. Then in January I'm getting the pc version and selling off console version!
OH YES.
I honestly have a really big problem playing third person games (I really couldn't get into Shadow of Mordor at all because I just couldn't get comfortable with the perspective and camera controls), so I was one of those who'd install mods for GTA III etc. back in the day to play them in first person, even if the implementation didn't work well.
Sets things up for oculus rift support too :D
Even if it's not full support with head tracking, just to be able to look around the virtual San Andreas would be a treat. Although head tracking would be nice for driving.
@capum15: Wow, I can't imagine how amazing this game is gonna be after the ice enhancer guys get a hold of the PC version.
Still can't believe they delayed the PC version until January well at least there's FarCry 4 this month looking forward to playing that. It's a shame that Rockstar made PC gamers wait for 2 years hope they don't expect high sales because they killed the hype for this bullshit wait.Regardless when this comes out it will best platform to play it on.I hope to get more excited to play GTA V for the first time next year but right now it's doesn't feel special like it did in 2013.Never has a company destroyed my hype for making us wait and wait and wait,oh yea the FPS stuff looks cool I guess.
I'm so glad I stopped playing the 360 version around 30% in. I might pick up the PS4 version as I can trade it in after and my PC is ageing slightly.
Not sure how well my GTX 580 will handle it. It's backed by a Haswell i7 at 4.4Ghz and 16GB of RAM though. (moonlights as a video production PC, I work for a company that does safety videos)
I can wait a long while before I eventually pick this up again, but a properly working FPS mode will ensure that I do eventually pick it up again.
