The posting on Rockstar's official site doesn't tip much. All we have thus far is a logo (which you can see here) that uses both Roman numerals and the spelled out version of "five." It's got green in it, too. Feel free to start speculating wildly about any of those obscure details.

You thankfully won't have to speculate for too long, as a trailer for the game will debut on November 2. Granted, it's unlikely that Rockstar will show too much of its hand with a first trailer, but we might at least get a sense of setting, and possibly who the lead character might be. Or maybe it'll just be two-and-a-half minutes of that logo set to random dialogue and a Kanye West song. Who knows?

Be sure to set your appointment calendars to next Wednesday. Odds are you won't want to miss this one...even if it does just turn out to be a logo and Kanye.

I will wait as long as they want if it at least contains the location.

When I first saw the story I wasnt sure it was real because that five looks fake.

Fantastic. I get the feeling that the green represents Grove Street, as there are a lot of rumours of a return to Los Santos.

Needless to say, wherever it is set, another GTA game is fine by me.

Just purchased the GTA Complete Collection from Steam this weekend so been on a bit of a nostalgia trip recently...This news could not have been better timed.

The release date for the trailer is 1102 and in GTA vice city the player has a safehouse called 1102 Washington Street.

The VFive is very much in the style of font and crosshatching/shading used on U.S. currency- so maybe its GTA Wall Street?

It would definitely be a topic that would push some buttons- and not just be another city- more of a lifestyle/environmental switch up.

It would also make a more clear opportunity to make Good/Bad (More Lawful/Less Lawful) decisions- as it wouldn't necessitate quite as much gun firing or high speed car chases- which I think was a barrier that GTA IV ran into- even though Nico was supposed to be trying to shift away from the full on criminal lifestyle.

I'd support this sort of direction for the game- but we'll have to see what happens.

And just to get the conspiracy theorists going, remember how true crime hong kong got cancelled because it could not compete with other open world games being developed?

I hope we'll get some juicy information from the trailer, which hopefully won't end with "Coming 2013" or something like that. If anything later than a 2012 release I bet my shoes that it'll be for next-gen consoles at least.

Maybe Washington DC? I just don't know if there's enough recognizable "stuff" there beyond the monuments and government buildings. Could be LA/Los Santos.

Character customisation is a must if they want to stay fresh like Saints Row.

You should play GTA London 1969 and 1961. True crime got cancelled because it was another game in a so called "True Crime" series, wherein you played a character in a video game therefore not committing "True Crime".

My guess, based on the Green in the logo... is that we're going to be revisiting "Grove Street". While I tend to enjoy the GTA games, right now I can't freaking WAIT for Saints Row: The Third... I'm ready for some more silly, over the top murdering mayhem.

Puh-lease be in Vice City! I think the fact that the "V" gets some special treatment it could mean I get my wish... I still remember buying GTA 3 for PS2...it was the first game I ever got carded for, and I was already like 22! Memmmmorieeeees!

I was more leaning character creator like Mass Effect ; ) I don't know much about Saints Row, just heard you can change your guys appearance.

GTA in SPACE

Absolutely despised IV and it's easily the worst purchase I've made in my entire life and the worst way I've spent my time doing anything.
 
Honestly very excited to see this trailer.

Logo is clearly designed to look like a dollar.

Very excited, though, holy fuck. If the lessons the studio learned between GTAIV and Red Dead are indicative of anything, this could be a really, really, really good game.

Same old Rockstar open world game that they've been recycling for the past decade? No thanks.

I really should get on to finishing Episodes of Liberty City, thank god I got it cheap on that 10th anniversary sale on Steam.

Anyways, woot for V. I suspect Los Santos or Las Venturas from San Andreas given how that V is designed, but the Washington DC in terms of money is an intriguing possibility. Still wish it was London after so long but oh well. Find out next week in anticipation.
