"That French Site" is now saying GTA5 is a Launch Title for "N6"

The French site which posted Sony's NGP specifications correctly well before an official announcement from them, and who also very recently claimed Nintendo next console is known internally as "Project Cafe" (as well as giving a brief run down of specifications in line with information from other, unconnected sources), is it at again. 01.net is now reporting that GTA5 will be one of the launch titles on Nintendo's next console, lol.

Regardless of whether this is true or not, having such a title as a launch title would certainly destroy both stigmas attached to Nintendo's current console - lowly powered and a distinct lack of mature software. I think it would be hilarious if Nintendo next console had a technically superior version...

Your thoughts?

Well, it wouldn't be the first GTA title on Nintendo hardware, but I'd be surprised if this was true.

I just don't see Nintendo giving a damn about having GTA5 on their system considering how other M rated games have done in the past for them.

I like you.

Seriously, this makes sense. Even if they keep it cheap, the N6 will theoretically have the best hardware on the market. GTA5 might not be exclusive to Nintendo, but I can see it coming out on a Nintendo platform no problem.

Good. I mean, people will bitch either way, because Nintendo's the America (or China in 10 years) of consoles. That's just part of being number 1. But hey, for people who honestly mean it when they say "I wish Nintendo got more 3rd party support", well this is good news.

I remember they claimed Chinatown Wars bombed because of the DS userbase, but after the PSP version bombed I think they understand as long as they make a GTA game like the ones that put them on the map, they'll be fine.

This would be awesome. I hope their new console is a beast.

That would be odd, but if the new hardware's as powerful as speculated it would be logical.

They also said the Maginot Line was long enough, and look how that turned out.

It doesn't make sense to put so much money into developing an engine and only using it for the few games that they have used it with. I doubt the engine could easily and cheaply be ported to the new hardware. It makes more sense to use the tech on at least one more GTA game before moving on. Also, given how disappointing the last 3 GTA games were, if the next one was on new hardware that I don't give a shit about then that makes it easier for me to ignore a GTA release for the first time since GTA2.

As long as it comes to 360 and PS3 that's fine.

Whoever does not believe that this is possible is incredibly short-sighted and does not understand how the games industry works.

I believe this and it's very possible. Especially with Nintendo's seemingly new initiative to reach the "hardcore" crowd once again. They had showed the Saints Row game as an upcoming title upon the 3DS' revelation, I can easily see them continuing their mature gaming trend, expanding their audience.

and how can they achieve that with a console based on waving a stick ? do you think the controller will return ?

Recent rumors have stated that the controller is not simply a revised Wiimote. There will apparently be a touchscreen (this one's a very probable one) on the controller, it may have dual analog sticks and other stuff. The focus of 'Project Café' will probably be less on the motion control aspect and more on whatever else Nintendo's pursuing this time. These are still rumors, but I would assume that if GTAV was to be introduced as a launch title, Rockstar are the kind of developer's who wouldn't want to fuck their game up with needless motion controls. Perhaps with the new console, motion control won't even be prevalent among the newer titles. It may just be an optional features developers can implement in their games.

A Grand Theft Auto game released alongside a console launch...

That would be quite the first.

Rumours suggest the new controller is an amalgamation of conventional, motion & touch controls.

This project cafe is simply the 3rd console of the "Xbox360-PS3-N6 generation". It will be more powerful than the other two but multi platform games will end up being very similar. If those 3 consoles have a long run (10 years) then the Wii will be remembered as a hugely profitable side project.

Having GTA 5 as a launch (or launch window) title will help them make a lot of sales and Nintendo might have given some money to Rockstar just to make sure that game came out on their console. Think about the Microsoft-Rockstar deal back before GTA 4 was released... it practically paid for the whole game's development !

Who says it has to be GTA 5 to be a GTA game for Cafe?  I'm sure they may do a standalone game for it, but probably not the next numbered one.

The rumour. It could be a new Chinatown Wars.

Sorry, poorly worded post.  I know the rumour says as such, but I think it's more likely that while there are any number of GTA games they could make, it definitely doesn't have to be the next numbered one.
