This video that youtube user corporalgregg2 posted is just tragic to watch. Whoever agreed to put Kurt into Guitar Hero should be ashamed of themselves.
(sorry that I didn't credit you before, Greg)

Nirvana; the voice of 90's counter culture....NOW A PLAYABLE CHARACTER IN GUITAR HERO 5!
Hysterical.
Remind me who cares about licensee artists APPEARING in Guitar Hero?

Looks horrific...the XB avatars make it look even worse. The avatars dont fit into the game at all...
Whats going on from like 2:35ish mark...how come the instruments are invisible? That a "cool" option in the game or something?

For all we know, Kurt Cobain would have loved this. Let's not forget that he once called "Weird" Al an American poet or something like that. So, obviously the guy liked stupid shit.
I can only hope that after I die, I'm made a playable character in the Guitar Hero franchise.
" People are way too freaking serious about this. He did approved a Weird Al parody song in his life time. "I fail to see the connection between approving of an artist who does parodies and that abomination of a video.

No opinion on this at all. Cobain was something of a caricature anyway. A talented musician in some respects. But a hopeless drug addict for sure.
" What can I say, I have never played a single second of those Guitar / Rock Band crap, way too Huxleyain for me. Everybody who plays those game's is digging the grave for creativity and real music. As to Kurt Cobain, I am not sure, he propbably would have found it hilarious, he was not that particulary self-conscious about his "counter-cultural" image, judging by his interviews. Anyway, my advice: Pick up guitar lessons, form a band, write songs, have fun, stay away from games like this. H. "Why should playing videogames and playing in a band be mutually exclusive?
"But don't forget that Johnny Cash is also a playable character too. "Yes, seeing the man in black singing "Bring Tha Noize" will be....interesting...
The magic at 4:40 makes me rethink this whole Activision ruined the series thing. Seeing reanimated Cobain, Xbox avatars, and a skeleton play funk classics changes everything. Even better when it's two Cobains, silver surfer, and a skeleton.
Oh wait, now I get it. You get past Cobain on vocals, and present Cobain on drums. These Neversoft guys are brilliant.
I'm with Jeff on this one. I was in high school during the grunge and flannel fad when Kurt offed himself, so I can remember how shocked and sad many of my classmates were when they heard. I'm not outraged or anything, but allowing Kurt to prance around to Stevie Wonder with XBLA avatars is just really damn odd. It's like those Dirt Devil ads that CGI'd their vacuum to footage of a deceased Fred Astaire dancing around.
Wait, why is it more fucked up that a dude who ended his own life gets his likeness trotted out in a(n admittedly) cheesy way, but not fucked up when they show other dead musicians?
Kurt Cobain was an over-rated whiny bitch. He gave birth to modern emoism, you're going to sit here and try and defend that? Well fuck you, fuck Nirvana, and fuck Kurt Cobain.
And before you go telling me I can't speak ill of the dead, well fuck you a second time, because I have no sympathy for a person who commits suicide. To do so would be a waste of sympathy.
Also, the notion that he represents 90s counter-culture is absolutely fucking insane, he neither represents culture, not counter-culture. He represents death.
