You have to defend your planet of Gunstar 9 with brothers Red and Blue with five weapons at your side as well as the option to combine 2 at a time, and also being able to team up with another player. At a first look, you may think this is just another run and gun shooter like Contra, but really Gunstar Heroes is a game with a great engine, fluid gameplay, and unique stratigic thinking making the action awesome fun. That may be hyperbole, that may be entirely subjective, but the above statement holds absolutely true to me today. Here is a game that has never been surpassed.Gunstar Heroes is a run ’n gun game, like Contra. With a name like Gunstar Heroes, it is hard not to at least get a sense of the goings-on in this Wii Virtual Console tribute to a Genesis classic. It follows "Gunstar Red" (and Gunstar Blue if you have a friend with whom to play) on a quest to retrieve the Mystical Gems stolen by the evil Colonel Red and his cronies.
