I just wanted to throw out that this game was recently fully translated a group of fans of the series! If saying this breaks any rules somehow, then delete this topic please, but the game is amazing! Way better then Ace Attorney Investigations 1 imo. The new characters it brings in are generally really good (unlike most of AA1's new characters except for Lang and Badd), and it even provides backstory for older characters. Oh and the cases are great >_>. The translation's good too, but unlike Capcom localisations it doesn't have awesome Americanized jokes obviously, so that's my only quip. But the translation quality is beary good.

    TLDR: Play AAI2!

Cuz who knows/wants to play an Ace Attorney game?

Then again, very few since AA1 sold like crap over here. Wonder if the 3DS Phoenix Wright sold more then 5 copies?

Awww. That was one of the great things about the Mother 3 fan localization. Thanks for the heads up though.

I've played through the first case so far with the patch and the team did a great job with the translation, they even recorded English voices for the new characters. The original Investigations is my least favorite Ace Attorney game but the sequel does seem to be an improvement so far. Looking forward to playing more.

2014 is shaping up to be a great year for DS fan translations with a lot of major games, like 7th Dragon and Retro Game Challenge 2, getting patches in the last few months.

I had played up to the final case, and wondered when they would release the complete version. So excited!

The first case in AA2 is better than the whole of the first game. I really didn't like AA1 all that much but 2 has some great cases. Case 3 is my favourite.

The game doesn't even start until case 3! Hoowee, that was like a final case in most previous AA games.

Yep. Been playing the beta for the fully fan translated version for a bit now. It's an AA game, so I love it, but I'm not seeing how it's one of the best so far. I'm at the end of case 3, and that's my favorite thus far, so I'll see if things get even better as the game progresses.

    @mcfart: I bought it so that's 6.

    :D

But still a bummer that Capcom didn't localize this. I feel that their marketing is pretty poor besides Street Fighter (but really, the competitive scene does most of their marketing for them)

Ghost Trick and AAI should've sold more then they did...

Halfway through the second case and really impressed with the translation. Could probably pass for an official localization if there were more typos (oh snap!)

Second case isn't really grabbing me so far (this "prison with wild animals running around" concept is just... weird), but the first case was pretty great. Have to agree with @alistercat that it was better than anything in AAI1.

Edit: Frank Sawhit?! What the hell?

Alright, downloading this now. The first AAI was alright, but I've heard that this one is a lot better.

Oof, that second case was a bit rough. Some okay twists, but man, did it drag. Apparently everyone's way into case 3 though, so I'm staying positive.

Just finished it. Can't believe this was a fan translation. There's just a staggering amount of text in this game, and I can't believe the translation ended up being this good. Even the name puns and the few pop culture references were spot on.

But in regards to the actual gameplay, the Edgeworth games are less compelling from a gameplay perspective than the Phoenix Wright games. I feel like I have a bit more agency in the Phoenix Wright games, and I feel more engaged while I'm going through the story. In the Investigations games, it feels as though I'm mostly just clicking through text. Regardless, I still think the stories in both Investigations 1 and 2 were fantastic.

I actually feel the opposite way; I feel like I have a more active role in the Investigations games. Yes, the game just moves you from place to place, but the actual "investigation" parts feel more fleshed out. AA5 in particular did away with any of the guesswork during the investigation sections by telling you exactly what to do next (can't say I minded though, to be honest.) I think my main issue with the Investigations games is just not having those courtroom sections. Yes, there's the cross-examination equivalent, but I think the clear breaks between the sections in the main series work really well and really give you the sense that you're building to something. Having that stuff just mixed into the investigations feels a lot less exciting to me.

Wow, is it just me or does this one feel like the longest one yet? The localization work is top notch in my opinion; it's good enough to pass for an official localization. I kinda agree with @wumbo3000 though: Although I think it's better than the first Ace Attorney Investigations, it does feel a bit more linear. You don't really have a lot of areas to run about during an investigation, you are usually limited to only one area. Even the first AAI had various areas to go between as you do your business IIRC. All in all, this game is great and shouldn't be skipped it if you are a fan of the Ace Attorney games.

    Dat final reveal though.

Finished this up relatively recently and absolutely loved it, nothing will ever top the original Phoenix Wright for me because of nostalgia, but this is easily the second best game in the series. The pacing, the characters, the mysteries, everything was just top notch. It was especially nice after Dual Destinies left me feeling a bit lukewarm, and questioning if my love for Ace Attorney was just because I played most of them in high school. Turns out that no, the series is legitimately fantastic still.

Awesome! Even know I didn't really like AAI1 or Dual Destinies (I think it's always glaringly obvious whenever Shu Takumi is not writing the story), I am still obsessed with the Phoenix Wright universe and have played all the other games except AAI2. The first four games are some of my favourite of all time. So I will be checking this out.
