My grandma put my birthday money in today, and it was almost EXACTLY enough to buy Hades, so I just picked it up on Switch.

After hearing EVERYONE bang on about it in GOTY, how could I NOT buy in

Any tips/advice, or should I just go for it and love it?

I'm curious how it runs on switch as that's where I was thinking of picking it up

I remember having a lot more framerate troubles on switch opposed to PC but it wasn't unmanageable or anything. The game can just get Very Hectic and it struggled at times when it did so.

It's a great game. It was my second favorite from 2020 and probably the objectively best game I played.

My only advice would be to talk to everyone and understand that the game isn't just about the action parts, even though that's the majority of the playtime.

It's a pretty intuitive game and you'll figure out what you're doing as you go. There are a lot of delightful little surprises I don't want to spoil.

I think it runs fine on Switch. The frame rate can chug up a bit at times, but not so much as to interfere with being able to play it, and it looks nice. Really hope there's a PS5/XSX version with cross save eventually, though.

@efesell: Honestly the Switch version is my favorite because of the rare slowdowns! The framerate only dips when there is a ton happening on screen, and that only happens when you're wrecking chaos at peak volume, which makes me think of old games that would have the exact same problem. It makes me feel like I'm breaking Hades by sheer destruction.

@sombre: You need to give a couple of characters nectar to complete their quests! I put their names below. Also you'll want to look up the requirements for the epilogue because it's not really spelled out. How weird and obtuse that stuff was is the one thing that soured me on this game, but it's still damn good.

    Ares, Eurydice/Orpheus, Patroclus/Achilles

As others have said, make sure you're giving nectar to all of the characters. I skipped a few characters to focus on certain ones. I've finished the game (except for the epilogue), and I'm catching up on giving everyone nectar. It has lead to some moments where I'm having conversations with a character and they bring up something that I already resolved with another character many hours ago. It's like when you play any RPG and decide to talk to everyone before the final mission, and the characters you've neglected just have a ton of dialogue to catch up on. The difference here is that this dialogue is gated behind a resource you get from playing the game.

You're sure to find a weapon you like. My only gameplay advice is this: with a melee weapon, you should ALWAYS use dash-strike instead of the normal attack. The game tells you to press dash followed by attack. What it doesn't tell you is that you can press the buttons at the same time to perform that move. When I figured this out, it was a game changer for me.

    PS: Happy birthday, duder!

@alias: I noticed slowdowns on super heavy scenes with a ton going on. I probably wouldn't even notice them in other games but because of how smooth and fast this game is I noticed it even though it's tiny. Other than that the game seems to run very well considering.
