The only thing thats dissapointing me so far is my firefight doesn't work when i play it with 2+ friends :(
Halo 3: ODST
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Sep 22, 2009
Taking place during the events of Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST puts players in the shoes of a silent Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (known as the Rookie) as he traverses through the Covenant-occupied metropolis of New Mombasa to find the whereabouts of his missing squadmates.
Was ODST a letdown to you?
i rather liked it. i got a little more halo love with a cool new campaign that didn't center around the chief, got a ton of multiplayer maps, and a cool firefight mode to play with some friends from work.
Some people seem to be judging this game relative to Halo 3, which is justifiable, but if you're doing that you might just be setting yourself up for disappointment. I think, taken for what it is, ODST is a very good shooter with a more than competent campaign and a fun (if a little derivative) co-op mode. Sure, $60 is a big chunk of dough for most people, but if you compare it to other top tier games out there--say Arkham Asylum--you're getting a similar price-to-content ratio.
Give me ODST's campaign and Firefight, but don't throw in a second disc of something I own already to justify a pricepoint you fucking assholes at Bungie.
I think it should have had its own multiplayer, or at least a revamped version or Halo 3's multiplayer. And using Halo 3's map pack's to justify the price is lame.
@BulletStorm: Bungie wanted to price it at $30, Microsoft was the one that made it $60.
Campaign is good, no complaints, it meets my expectations. Firefight is a little more boring than I expected, it favors playing very slowly, and games can last hours, so that's a bit slow. I like having the Halo 3 MP maps I never bought too. Overall ODST doesn't exceed my expectations but I'm not disappointed either.
Notch up the difficulty or turn on some skulls.I'm saying at least in solo for optimal scoring you need to keep stuff low, because the only way to really get a good score is by playing a long time. You get way more points playing on normal and surviving a ton of enemies than you do playing on legendary and dying off after a few waves. Basically this could have been solved by making the multipliers for the difficulty level much higher.
" @WilliamRLBaker said:you sons of bitchs needa send me an invite dammit i need some firefight/coop friends that are on reliably." Nope, I've had nothing but fun with it. "dude YES. I was playing firefight with pie and RH and it's simply the best ever. The only way you could possibly say you were let down is if you have no friends... "
Not yet, but I'm really disappointed about the German localization. The so-called German version still comes with English text if your Xbox360 is set to English, but the intro-text is in German as are all the audio samples. With the German edition of Mass Effect at least everything was in German. And whoever had the idea of translating ODST into OAST ...

No its made me fall in love with my xbox again . None stop fun . But if your a unsociable nerd who doesn't have any friends then i understand how playing the game by yourself can be disappointing
No.
The campaign is great, probably the best of any of the Halo games. Seems Bungie finally got the hint that the Earth levels were always the best, and made a whole game focused around them. The story being a lot more character driven really worked as well, although I don't really understand the role of the Rookie.. Buck or any of the others could have easily been the main character, I don't see why we needed a faceless lead here. But mostly, it's just a lot of fun and I'll definitely be playing it again shortly on co-op.
Firefight is a lot of fun, and I've never bought any of the Halo 3 map packs, so that alone was great value. I'm very happy with the game, aside from Arkham Asylum, it's my favourite game so far this year, and I doubt anything will top either of them. That being said, if I did already own the map packs, I think I probably would have waited for a price drop.
" Give me ODST's campaign and Firefight, but don't throw in a second disc of something I own already to justify a pricepoint you fucking assholes at Bungie. "damn straight, even than I found the Campaign to feel really tacked on and bland at best. Definitely not worth the 60, I would of paid 30-40 for this kind of content. Unless you're just a HUGE halo fan, this game does nothing to continue the series and just can't really be recommended. :S
No, I needed a good campaign. This is by far the best game I've played all year. About time a good shooter came along. Almost all year it's been 3rd persons. Feels like I can finally stretch my legs out, again.
All I wanted was a world I could sink my teeth into. This was great. Took my time, spiced up the difficulty. Followed the lights. Enjoyed the new weapons. Had fun. Thats all I wanted. To just kill some fucking aliens and look good doing it.
The problem with that question, is the dead horse. You either like Halo games or you don't.
My only issue, is minor. The Firefight has no matchmaking. Clever too. Bungi knows it. Smart bastards. Everyone everywhere is spreading the word about firefight. But no biggie. Love the Blade Runner feel, the way the story was told, and creeping around the city at night was exciting.
Can't wait for Reach!
" Give me ODST's campaign and Firefight, but don't throw in a second disc of something I own already to justify a pricepoint you fucking assholes at Bungie. "This.
Absolutely this.
" Give me ODST's campaign and Firefight, but don't throw in a second disc of something I own already to justify a pricepoint you fucking assholes at Bungie. "Microsoft probably would have charged full price even without Halo 3's multiplayer. Adding it to the package makes it a sweet deal for anyone that didn't own Halo 3, or all of the map packs, so you really can't complain too much.

I will like it more with Master Chief DLC that was planned but then MS will decide to hold it back and make it a full retail game, pretty soon there will be full Halo retail games that last 2-3 hours but will include all previous maps!!
I don't know, the single player is actually not half bad. Also, it's more Halo and at the point I'm at right now I'm not complaining about that. The multiplayer disc is a nice bonus aswell since I never bought the new maps and I've been wanting to play Halo online for a while now. For someone who already played Halo 3 a lot and have the new maps and such the single player length might feel over priced since it's fairly short.
yes and no.. the campaign is awesome although short.. Firefight is good but it has been done by Epic and treyarch so it kinda took the excitement out of it..
but the rest of the game is rubbish. the multiplayer isn't worth it if you already own all the halo 3 map packs and the campaign was just the same fucking encounter like 400 times with 2 vehicle levels.
" Its the best Halo campaign to date. That says a lot. "i'm going to have to disagree. it was the same thing over and over. find an object that pertains to the joke they call a plot, and then fight groups of brutes, grunts, jackals, and sometimes hunters. not to mention the story was the most boring thing ever, the encounters are all basically exactly the same. there are two vehicle levels, which are basically just reboots of that level with the bridge in halo 2.
now i did enjoy the last level, becuase it was basically the firefight mode, which is pretty fun.
and where is this quote from?
