Oh my God, that demo is so much more awesome than I was expecting, Halo 4 officially has me excited! What did everyone think?
Halo 4
Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Nov 05, 2012
The first game in the second saga of the Halo sci-fi series has the Master Chief awakening from cryostasis as he explores the mysterious Forerunner shield world Requiem, fights a newly-formed Covenant group, and accidentally awakens an ancient evil.
I think I'm hyperventilating that was so awesome!
another solid entry. kinda bummed it just kinda looked like more of the same but thats not a bad thing!
I didn't get to see it. I jumped in at about the time that EA Sports started advertising and they haven't stopped banging on about sports and fucking Kinect.
Well, I guess the Forza and Gears trailers were better, but that's like two very dim points of light in a sea of the darkest black shit you've ever seen.
Halo was fantastic, I wish I could say the same of the new Splinter Cell. They lost even more of the stealth mechanics and now you can call in air strikes, what the hell is this?
I enjoyed it. One of the only things I enjoyed from this whole Microsoft thing. Why in the hell do they keep pushing this Kinect thing? Even people who have Kinect don't give a shit about this stuff anymore. Notice how not a single person clapped after that Fable trailer? And they need to stop with the dull presenters with completely fake enthusiasm.
Halo 4 looked great but those fights looked a little too scripted, which goes against everything Halo has always been about.
Hopefully it was just for demo purposes, which I'm sure was probably the case.

All right, that and Tomb Raider and RE6 looked pretty cool but a little too scripted. Halo 4 looked the best, though, and it reminded me of what would happen if Crysis and Metroid had a baby. Which is a fucking beautiful thing.
When I read in Game Informer that they were trying a new enemy with new tactics, I kind of rolled my eyes, thinking that it wasn't going to be much different. Then we saw robots that could teleport and others that could catch your grenades and chuck them back, which looks awesome. It's just... scripted. Why the fuck are these thing always so scripted?
I'm really liking what they showed, I'm interested where they'll go with the new enemies and weapons, so I'm definitely in.
As for the rest of the conference, the majority was completely uninteresting (though the woman doing the Kinect demo-thingy looks like we can get some good gifs out of that), I must say that I liked what I saw of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Tomb Raider, Black Ops 2.
EDIT: Also fucking LocoCycle! WTF?
Non Halo fan here, could someone explain why it was awesome again? It reminds me of when they first showed Halo 3. It's just M.C running through a forest. My first thought was these new enemies are some sort of fabled, thought-to-be-extinct race that are now back and pissed off. But, in terms of what actually happened, it was just M.C fighting a bunch of dudes and shooting a new gun.
I don't know. I guess I have to be into it to be excited, right? It IS the first game with Master Chief since 3, and that was a while ago. I did get excited just seeing videos of Old Snake rubbing his aching back, so I don't know/
I am so fucking down for Halo 4. Goddamn I actually got giddy at the sizzle reel at the end of the demo.
The demo got me less excited, looks like all the enemies have to have gimmicks now instead of just good AI in a sandbox.

Started with a showstopper!
Agreed. Nothing else in that conference could even touch that Halo 4 demo. Blown away.

I can't understand how that could excite anyone. It was just more Halo.
Maybe because you like Halo?
Halo 4 is the biggest change to the franchise yet, believe it or not. Have you played the 3 Bungie Halo games this gen?
I couldn't have cared less about this game before seeing that, but it looked great. And to the people worrying about the AI, I wouldn't. They needed a precise demo for a set amount of time. Actually allowing the AI to perform as normal would have made it potentially too drawn out. They needed to show things, and they scripted the enemies to allow them to quickly show off some new weapons and enemy types.

Yes, and I liked them, but Reach felt like the natural conclusion. This just looks like a less-talented studio doing more Halo because Microsoft said 'We need more Halo'
I didn't see the trailer, but saw everyone blow their load on twitter. I'm holding out till I see it. I've been sick of the Halo format since 3, but bought Reach anyway and was kinda meh on it. It has it's moments. Was there gameplay in the trailer?

I really liked the Metroid Prime influence.
Yes , this was the one thing that impressed me .

I wouldn't say that at all. For one, Halo 4 looks bloody amazing. I mean visually amazing. How the hell they're pushing a 360 to do that is beyond me. Second of all, the enemies not being hyper-intelligent has more to do with it being an E3 stage demo. They can't have 20 minute drawn out gun battles where the AI is testing your wits in front of, well, the world. I imagine Heroic/Legendary for Halo 4 will be just as trying and face-melting in both fun and difficulty as Reach was.
And finally, it looks like 343 is actually following through with the fiction promises of Halo. There was a lot of detail and a lot of story to pick out of that brief demo, and I'm not talking about the sizzle reel at the end (which looked awesome). A lot of great clues for Halo fans in there.
of course its more Halo...... its fucking Halo 4 emphasis on the Halo and the 4.
I thought it looked great, I thought reach was great, but fighting elites was getting old. So new enemies, better graphics and Cortana going crazy sounds awesome to me.
I do hope that there is a good explanation for fighting elites again, even in the trailer they said there was peace.
lol i know its the cool thing to hate on the major franchises, but I am thoroughly excited for this.

As I wrote in the other thread: Don't take this the wrong way but this sure looks like more Halo.
This kinda irritates me because you can say that about all franchises, but people say this specificity on anything usually to do with Halo.
The game play trailer was not that long, but the graphics look really good, can't judge the AI too harshly because there was only a few enemy and only 2 very small fire fights, and it seems that the difficulty was set on the easier side, the guns sound allot better especially the Assault Rifle. However they didn't really show anything, it was very short, so I am looking forward to some more information and game play.

They are a crazy religious sect of the Elites, not on the side of he Arbiter.
As serious as Halo wants to be they still employ the same goofy looking enemies. I don't know how anyone can get remotely invested in the story with little munchkins walking around as your enemies and the new baddies are little doods that have, wow, glowing orange skulls. Despite all the care in the graphics and the mysticism of Master Chief, it all ends up looking so cartoony.

I never said anything about enemy difficulty and yes it did look good visually but it's more Halo, just like Black Ops 2 is more Call of Duty. Halo could be spun out into all manner of crazy shit but instead they said 'Let's do 3 more Halo games because we need that Halo money'. I've no doubt that Halo 4 will be to the same standard as the previous entries in terms of the gameplay but that doesn't excite me at all.
I'm just confused. I have no idea what was going on in that gameplay demo. Maybe I zoned out or something. Did they explain who the new enemies are?

It was pretty obvious they were going to go in that direction with the name of this trilogy being The Forerunner Trilogy.
