I think the new version has too many lights on the ground, if they took them out i would be fine with it.

hmm I'm actually really interested to see how that Jenkins cutscene plays out. I remember loving it when I first saw it. Hope they can do that part justice.

I'm excited for the game, but man are these videos getting redundant. They're all pretty much "This is just an awesome feature--being able to switch back and forth--so we really just want to have fun with that. Also we tried really hard to make this Halo play like the first Halo so we took the code straight from Bungie which was a lot of hard work and so it plays just like the Halo you love." x 1000 
 
Really don't see the killing of the atmosphere though. Less fog is fine.

@Dylabaloo: Just pointing out how badly this level would have looked if they hadn't have put that feature in. This is also the same team thats gonna make halo 4 :/

I consider the original Halo the formative experience of my gaming life, and I like the updated look.

Needs more fog.

Half the fun of that level were the navigation issues, so I completely agree with the OP. Way too many damned lights lying all over the ground.

MS have a dream team working on 343i, I´m very hyped for this and the new Halo trilogy.

I don't think that's the issue here. The classic version features dim lighting that made it difficult to see. This new version has lighting all over the place. It's possible to add detail without subtracting part of what created the original atmosphere.

Good lord, you guys are over reacting for a better looking game? The only reason the past game was creepy was from the fog, and that was because of lack of technology to do anything more than that.

Quit whining, your going to buy it and love it. You'll hate it on the side, but really deep inside you'll only be doing that for your social reputation.

It's not that bad. Maybe dull the colours to make it look more murky and grim, but it's not a far cry from the original.

this is still one of the funniest things i have ever seen, i cry laugh every time i see it.

I really dont see the problem with putting in more lights to make it easier for people to find their way. Christ, I got lost for 45 minutes in that god damn level the first time I played it.

Play in classic mode. Stop bitching. No one is forcing your to play in this gen mode.

I... Really get this funny feeling seeing people reply with plain "play in classic mode." I mean, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of even getting Anniversary to begin with?

On topic though, I can see the concern. I don't really know how many people had troubles getting lost in that particular stage, but I don't know how much I like the new way of "pointing them in the right direction." More like "bathe the path with searchlights." But other than that, it looks pretty cool, really; I kind of doubt the rest of the game will see that issue popping up too often, if at all.

Oh gosh, I hate lights and current-generation draw distances and game design that helps me find my way without slapping a bland marker on my HUD. Grrr, it really bothers me how they updated the updated version and left the classic version alone to appease both newcomers and those who enjoyed the original look! That just makes me angry! What's next, the inclusion of Kinect, as all first-party Microsoft games include to help push sales of that peripheral? GRRRRR.

I think it looks awesome. I suppose one could always just change it to the classic look while playing this level if it bothers them that much.
