Okay guys, what's your favorite game in the franchise so far? And if you see Sharkboy242 come in here and go HALO BLUE, we must kill him.

Anyways, I like the single-player in CE best, but Halo 3 has some seriously fun multi-player. The original is still probably my favorite of the series though.

I liked halo 2's multiplayer, I've only played the single player mode in Halo 3, no multi yet because i was borrowing it from a friend.

I would have to say Halo 3. This is because the single player experience in that game was awesome. Although i didn't enjoy the multiplayer as much as I did in halo 2 (before massive amounts of modders) the single player for me, clearly makes it the best of all 3.

CE has the best multi and singleplayer imo. dual wielding and lunging for swords and melee ruined 2 and 3s multiplayer for me.

For single player, probably halo 1. When I first played it, it blew my mind.
For multi player, probably halo 3. The online is a lot of fun, and the option for 4 player co-op is also nice.

For single player, Halo 2. Even if many were upset with the ending, I really enjoyed what they tried to do with the narrative. The Arbiter levels were just as fun as MC's too. Halo 2 is also as far as I can recall, the only Halo game NOT to have an annoying Flood level.

That being said, I really enjoyed the online co-op Halo 3 added. There's no way I could have beaten Legendary without help.

I did enjoy Halo 2's campaign as well, I just think I liked CE better. Gravemind and Outskirts are both standout levels. Well, maybe I just like outskirts for hopping around on the rooftops. You just don't get that level of freedom in Halo 3, cause of all the invisible walls :(

But Gravemind was sick, fighting through a Covenant civil war. What a sweet concept. I was a bit disappointed there was none of that in Halo 3. The end of Halo 2 was so fun in that regard, and we got exactly none of it in Halo 3.

Halo 1 and 3 both had the best story, but Halo 3 has the best multiplayer of them all.

From the small amount of time that i've spent playing the Halo games i'd say Halo 3 is the best of them. Looks nicer and played just a lot better with the co-op.

I'd be willing to bet that anyone who says Halo 3 multiplayer is better than Halo 1 multiplayer never spent much time with the latter. Sure, Forge, 4-player co-op, Theater, and Xbox Live are all excellent features of Halo 3; but, gameplay-wise, Halo: CE was leaps and bounds ahead of Halo 3. It had that casual side to it that Halo 3 does so well (the huge, 16-player, vehicle battles on wide-open maps like Sidewinder and Blood Gulch), but from a competitive standpoint Halo 1's multiplayer was infinitely more skillful than Halo 3's. Like it or loathe it, the Pistol was the epitome of a great all-purpose weapon, and the design of maps such as Chill Out, Prisoner, Hang 'em High, Wizard, Derelict, etc. were perfect for players to demonstrate their true abilities. The skill gap was enormous, and in order to be good at the game you had to truly invest some practice time -- to be good at Halo 3 you just have to learn how to hold down the Right Trigger and press B. So, anyway, Halo 1 multiplayer was my favorite.

Campaign wise, I'd say Halo 3 was my favorite.

Don't make me choose! Man, tough one. I think Halo 1 is an absolute masterpiece with one of the finest single-player games in FPS history. I think Halo 2's campaign was pretty crappy but it's multiplayer was insanely fun and with it I had some of the best moments I've ever had gaming. Halo 3 had a pretty good campaign, and some great multiplayer though I think I had more fun with Halo 2's. Oh, man. For me, it's totally between Halo 1 and Halo 2. I guess I'm gonna have to go with Halo 1.

halo CE hands down...don't care about the mp cuz I've always had better mp games to play, halo 2 and 3 really were terrible imo. Though I don't get where people say it was 'innovative', it still didn't do anything new really, still enjoyed CE a lot, but nothing else.

The Original Halo.... it was new, innovative, fresh when it first hit out homes, then the series was dragged along for years and years and never appealed to me after the first.

I liked Halo 3 because it's so damned refined. Realistically I don't think anyone can go back to a previous Halo and appreciate it quite as much without all the innovations Halo 3 added not just to its gameplay but its unique features like Forge, Save Films and Screenshots. Actually, no game stands up to Halo 3 for this reason! Also I added the pages for all 3 of those features w00t!

"I don't think anyone can go back to a previous halo and appreciate it quite as much without all the innovations Halo 3 added" You guessed wrong then :P I still think the first one was hands down the best and 2 and 3 didn't even come close to it. Every feature it added from forge to screenshots, save films is just a half assed version of stuff thats been doable on the PC for years...if they came out with Halo CE on XBL I know plenty of people who wouldn't even think twice in going back to halo 3 ever again.

its weird.... i Like halo 1 best for its story line, and halo 3 is right beside it.  halo 2 made the greatest jump as far as multiplayer goes, but halo 3 is best.  but my most memorable moment is from halo 2, when you go into the room where flood and covenant are fighting and then Breaking Benjamin starts to play.... i will never forget those 3 minutes of my life.

I think the other two have merits, and I certainly think Halo 3 is a decided improvement over Halo 2, but I agree--the original Halo is, and always will be, the first-person shooter closest to my heart.
