Because no company can ever resist celebrating ten years of anything, Microsoft today announced it'll be making a big show of the series' tenth birthday at this year's PAX Prime, sponsoring an in-show fan-oriented extravaganza it's calling "Halo Fest." With the Halo franchise's decade mark quickly approaching, many among us may find ourselves suddenly realizing that we have gotten really, really old.
Any PAX Prime badge-holder can access the event, which promises to offer a wide-variety of tantalizing delights for the Halo enthusiast, including tournaments, exclusive panels, and prizes. Hours will run all three days of the show--which is scheduled this year for August 26th to 28th in Seattle, WA--from 10am to 6pm. More details are expected to come along via the Halo Waypoint website in the near future.

I've never been to a PAX before but to people that do go, is it getting more and more corporate? I heard the guys talk about the last one saying how booth babes and pre-order tickers were coming in and that does not sound like a good way to improve PAX. And this just seems like another corporation getting in. Am I just an outsider looking in or is this becoming a legitimate problem?
@RE_Player92:
not really, marvel and DC always have big booths at conventions. it seems like an appriopriate place to let fans celebreate halo.
Seems intresting , wonder if anything will be announced
Even though I think the idea of a Halo Fest is kinda ridiculous, PAX is probably the right place for it. It is a video game festival after all. I can tolerate it.

Haha." Finally Halo fans are getting the publicity they deserve, he said sarcastically "

If it is just some corporatey corporatism then I agree, but if turns out to be more of an exchanging of thanks, laughs and plasma grenades between developers and fans I think PAX would be the perfect place for it....And this just seems like another corporation getting in. @RE_Player92 said:Relax. There were booth babes at PAX East and when I said pre order tickers I meant for games. Take Brink for example, I'm not sure if that was the game exactly, they had a booth on the floor where you could pre-order the game there and the amount of pre-orders they got was displayed on a monitor." It's is NOT getting more corporate. Yes, you preorder tickets. They sell out FUCKING FAST. So do hotel rooms. I don't see how ticket preorders make the thing "corporate"
Sorry the caps came across wrong, they were for emphasis not rage lol. Ok, the booth babe thing at PAX - they will allow companies to have girls that are dressed up as characters from their game. And from my experiences at PAX, these girls usually have worked on the game themselves too. But they don't allow booth babes that are just in skimpy little tops and shorts who are ditzes that couldn't answer a single question about the game :p
I don't recall seeing stuff I could preorder at previous PAXs but it's possible. Although I'd imagine that's up to the individual retailer/exhibitor. It's a gaming convention... people want to sell their games. Makes sense to me.
" Call me when there's a "Viva Pinata-Fest". "Fuck yeah!
" @melceneI think PAX is more corporate in size and scale but not in a way that would cause problems for people.@RE_Player92 said:Relax. One of these days I really ahve to get off my arse and get to a PAX event. Coming from Australia makes it a bit more of a hassle... :)
Missed PAX last year.. Really hoping to go this year, and this would be an awesome thing to check out.
" People talking about PAX becoming "corporate" are....If you think the Penny Arcade guys aren't in this process for the moneys you're kinda naive. PAX became corporate the minute it had a charity attached. Charities are formed as tax breaks.Actually, why would I bother."
"it's been announced !I'm already speculating an announcement of HD remake of Halo: CE at pax prime.
