I support forced installs. Anything that puts less stress on the machine parts more like to fail is A-OK. I install every game I buy or play for an extended amount of time on my 360 because I don't want the damn thing working too hard. Maybe it won't prevent RROD but I'll put it off as long as possible.
I guess I should get around to buying a replacement for that 20 gig hdd my ps3 came with.
EDIT: as an aside, kudos to Sony for not making hdds a proprietary product like some other company. and the RROD, to my knowledge, has nothing to do with installing versus not installing. RRODs are caused by the GPU overheating, not the dvd drive failing in some way. To be fair, installing certainly doesn't hurt though and is worth it.
" Considering I once downloaded a HD porno which was 7.6GB, this is nothing. I've never understood how games can be so small compared to video but, there you go.
" according to an article on VG247.com, Heavy Rain will need a huge 4.2 GB of space on your PS3's hard drive.
Here's the article:
It has been revealed that Heavy Rain will weigh in at 4.2Gb when released later in the month.
However, while you’re waiting on the game disc to install the data, Quantic Dream provides you with something to occupy your time with.
While you sit there waiting on the required install, you can make Swan Origami in twelve steps. Surely this will take up most of your installation time, unless you are pro at creating it with a game controller already for some reason.
The game’s out on February 23 and 26, and reviews should start going up around February 10 when the embargo lifts.
"A Quick Time Event is typically a form of interactive cut-scene, where main control of the on-screen action is replaced by a lengthy animation with limited user interaction. Most games that feature QTEs flash an on-screen icon to tell players which button or direction to press to successfully continue the animation. Failing to press the proper buttons in a timely fashion usually results in some form of penalty, such as failing to execute the attempted move, getting hit by incoming objects, and so on."
This is how I would describe a lot of the gameplay of Heavy Rain. They're quick time events.
