Character Bio
Helga is a German robotic fitness instructor, who, despite her occupation, appears to be overweight. She is first featured in the series in
Ratchet and Clank, while the pair are visiting Metropolis. She offers
Ratchet the chance to earn a Swingshot, if he can complete
Captain Qwark's fitness course, as designed by her. Once they have successfully completed the course, she refuses to hand the Swingshot over, insisting that they pay for it, after disgracing the course.
She makes another, although brief, appearance in the sequel,
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. She has been employed by Thugs-4-Less as fitness instructor in the prison where Ratchet and
Clank are kept.
She has a more prominent role in the next game of the series,
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Captain Qwark selects Helga to become a member of his Q-Force because of her 'sensual powers of deduction'. Towards the start of the game, she again adopts her role as the fitness instructor, putting Ratchet through his paces in a battle simulator. Once completed, she gives him various gadgets, though this time he isnt forced to pay. While working with the Q-Force, she seems to develop a relationship with
Big Al, after he accidentally revealed his undying love for her over the
Starship Phoenix's intercom. These feelings seem to be requited as she refers to him as 'dear'.
Fact - In the demo released for the first Ratchet game, Helga was actually an organic lifeform. But when the game shipped she had become a robot.
