Based on the first naval battle of World War I, Heligoland Bight is a Conquest Assault map that sees the British Empire attacking German positions with ships and landing craft. It was introduced in the Turning Tides DLC for Battlefield 1, an expansion focused on the naval battles of the war.

The map features six flags to be captured by the British along the beaches of the two islands. Because of how exposed the flags are, maintaining naval and air superiority is essential. Both sides are able to deploy small landing craft, torpedo boats, destroyers, fighters, bombers, and airships to achieve this. In addition, Heligoland Bight is the only map in Battlefield 1 in which both teams begin the match with their Behemoths, the dreadnoughts.

In World War I, the first battle of Heligoland Bight took place on 28 August, 1914 and was a significant British victory. A follow-up battle that occurred on 17 November, 1917 was inconclusive.
