Hello Kitty, is a popular Japanese-based franchise, that has seen its fair share of popularity in the west. The video game line of products are spin offs, based on a line of products aimed at girls. that also share the Hello Kitty name. The franchise is based around a girl kitty whose name is actually, Hello Kitty, she is joined by other characters with equally unusual names such as Charmy Kitty and Dear Daniel. The video game division, of the franchise has seen great success in Japan where special edition consoles have even been made to cash in on the fame. It's difficult to gauge the level of success the Hello Kitty games have achieved in the U.S without directly looking at sales numbers, however judging by the marketing efforts given to the games in the west, it is considerably less successful than it is in Japan.
