A bold presentation that ultimately fails to satisfy 0
It's been nearly a month since I finished playing Her Story. Ordinarily, I'd consider that too long between completing a game and writing the review, but I couldn't shake the feeling I was missing something - for a game to receive near-universal praise, yet fall pretty much completely flat during my playthrough, didn't sit right. As far as video games go Her Story is a unique thing. It's a wholly narrative experience that gives the player just a few ways to interact with it. In doing so it creates an interesting take on traditional crime fiction and ultimately delivers an incredibly satisfying experience. Spoilers. Because of course. Buy the game if you haven't. It is worth experiencing. The game's best feature is the feeling of piecing together a story by focusing on key words and ideas in an interview. Combined with watching for a real person's tells (manufactured to be clear, but not poorly acted and obvious), this game is like an LA Noire interview that works. What even is a videogame?I tried to play this all in one sitting as I was told that was quite possible and looking back, yes, quite. However, there is no.. ending as in there is nothing to be earned, the is no great accomplishment you simply... well you just accept what has transpired. I have had two different experiences with Her Story.When I first played the game, I began fiddling with the search engine trying to uncover what happened to poor Simon.I did not get very far, and began to lose interest and decided to play something else.A few monthes later, I decided to boot up Her Story again. The first time I heard of Her Story was when a bunch of people were complaining about how the game was SJW and feminist propaganda and let me start off by saying that propaganda this game is not.
