I've been thinking about it, and this seems like the only way Kojima would actually be allowed to apply his creativity to games that don't have "Metal Gear" in the title. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool series, but I get the sense that Konami is desperate to have him keep making MGS games, because OH GOD NOBODY CARES ABOUT ANY OTHER KONAMI GAMES BUT THOSE ONES.

But it just seems like a huge bummer that entire decades of this guy's career will be devoted to this one series. Even Miyamoto gets to make Pikmin or Wii Fit or whatever weird idea strikes him. They gave Kojima a shot with Zone of the Enders, but I'm assuming it didn't sell well enough for Konami to have the confidence to let Kojima continue to make non-MGS projects.

I know he is high up in the Konami hierarchy and maybe he has some say in what games he works on, but I still think it would be interesting to see what would happen if Kojima Productions somehow became totally independent of Konami, and Kojima could just work on whatever he wanted.

He'd just make another Metal Gear game, but with a different fiction.

He has expressed intrest in taking over development for Silent Hill

That would be awesome.

I honestly don't give a shit about Kojima. MSG4 was a pretty good game, other than that meh....

Would he though? I just find it hard to believe that the guy wants to make nothing but games set in his weird military fictional universe. Between Boktai and Zone of the Enders, I assume he has other ideas in his head that he'd like to work on.

I feel like Kojima is a man trapped. He has handed metal gear projects over multiple times to people and then had to take control again. I'm sure he doesn't want to work on metal gear for his entire life but then you have the other side of the coin he has worked SO HARD building up the Metal Gear name that I'm sure he is like an overprotective parent and doesn't want anyone to ruin his lifes work so...he continues to make Metal Gear games.

Wait, for real? I have no idea how that game would turn out, but it would most certainly be insane.
