any aussies found a work around?
I am fairly certain that Steam codes can still be redeemed. Try finding a helpful friend or duder overseas? (Do NOT try to buy a key (directly) from Steam using a proxy/VPN. This may/probably will end up getting your account in serious trouble).
I got my copy by the Humble Bundle store blunder for pre-orders and release day. They gave me a Steam code, and it worked.
There is the humble bundle or that gamersgate website (not related to the group) may have it
The Humble Bundle method won't work anymore. They figured out how to finally hide the store page from Australians.

Not to be "that guy," but the ESRB has nothing to do with the game being banned in Australia, that would be the Australian government. The ESRB is US based and has no authority to ban anything, be it in Australia, the US, or anywhere else.

Does anyone know if a US bought Steam copy could be gifted to an Aussie Steam account? That could be a good workaround, but I assume it wouldn't work.
While I don't know in this particular case, that has always worked in the past and has been the method I've used to get a handful of uncensored versions of games and games that have been banned.
@finaldasa: Are any workarounds legal...?

The ESRB has nothing to do with Australia and what gets banned here lol.
I think you mean CRB. ;)

I'd say yes for this. Hotline Miami 2 has been Refused Classification, not outright banned. That's why I THINK that gifted Steam keys work.
Anyway if some duders would mind helping me out get the OST on Steam that would be super rad.
Remember that discussion of piracy isn't allowed on the forums. So keep your workarounds legal.
Is it really piracy if the developers say its ok for us to download it?

I can also confirm this. I have emailed their support asking what I should do so hopefully a refund will be issued.
Next I will try the GMG method which has proven successful in the past.
Huh, I was gonna suggest Humble Store, since it worked for me just the other day (I believe it was the day it came out, Tuesday maybe?) so I'm surprised they closed the loophole. I even redeemed it on Steam as well. Haven't played it yet so I don't know if there might be something preventing me from playing but I also have the DRM-free file on my desktop in case the Steam version doesn't work.
@spyder335: Install something like Hola Better Internet for Chrome, go to GOG and set your browsing location as US or somewhere in Europe and you should be able to buy the game DRM Free (no steam key)
I picked up a key from G2A and it activated and downloaded from steam just fined. Played 2 hours of it last night all seems well.
So glad loved the first one!
Piracy is not illegal, but feel free to ban me out of fear. The devs explicitly said that Australians should pirate. But, theoretically, buying a key (off a different site) and redeeming it on steam would work. Some games don't work though so its probably not the best.
I heard at some point they're actually region-locking the keys for steam, so you can only play them in the region you purchased them. I don't believe it's in effect, but it sounded like something that was coming down the pike. How they'd do this I don't know.
@earlessshrimp: where did you hear that?
@hayt: I saw it in a tweet, checking the articles now it looks like Aussies should be safe getting steam gifts from US accounts? It looks like they're locking the Russian versions because they're so cheap comparatively. Didn't mean to cause any concern!
At least they haven't locked banned games yet, from the looks of it!
@earlessshrimp: ohh yeah for Russian/Brazilian keys I had heard of that. No worries
@spyder335: The developer said on Twitter to pirate the game if you lived in Australia on Twitter a while back.
You bought it. Nevermind then.

That would be real shitty what if someone went on holiday and took a laptop with them, or what if I move country for work or if an american friend buys me a game as a gift.
