I bought a copy during the holiday sales and found myself at the final chapter quite suddenly. Not that I think the game needs to be much longer, but for all the hype it's gotten I can't remember anyone talking about it being a fleeting experience or anything like that. Did people only play it for an hour or so and thought it was cool but moved on ? I get that it has decent replay-value and it's a great experience, but I'm quite surprised at how quickly it passed.

A top-down shooter game with an 80s aesthetic, a brutal style, and a thoughtful, slightly surreal philosophy underlying the story about the nature of violence.
Is this game really only 2-3 hours long ?
Steam says I have 8 hours played of it, but I usually take longer than average to finish games. I thought that it was a good length for the game, considering that the gameplay doesn't change significally from start to finish. Had to take a break after the "Final Chapter" though as I had played all the rest in one go.
Took me about 3.5 hours according to my Steam account. Finish the Final Chapter though before talking about the length of the game... Still a ton of fun regardless of how long/short it may be.
1000 deaths is an achievement but I think I'd have to play through the game 2-3 more times (or more if I got better I suppose) to get it; all kill animations and all A+'s would take pretty long as well; it's a great game to just relax and zone out while playing and listening to the soundtrack. I don't utilize drugs but stuff like this and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans make for some excellent vicarious experiences.
"How Long to Beat" lists it at 4 hours to complete the main story. I kind of feel like someone should have mentioned this at some point for all the talk I've heard about it, reviewers rarely seem interested in mentioning length in the last few years.
It took me like 20 hours because I'm not very good at video games.
I am likely to be in the same position. Started this last night on the PS3 and the first chapter took me over half an hour.
That's very difficult to tell since every floor could potentially be beaten in seconds in an ideal scenario. Or take many minutes if you fail enough. You also might have fallen for the game's sneaky deconstruction of gaming conventions. That said, I think it took me upwards of 4 hours to finish the game the first time around. I've played a total of 8 hours of it according to Steam but that includes me showing it off to a couple of friends after I already completed it myself. Considering the 5€ I payed for Hotline Miami I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I think the marvellous soundtrack alone might be a pretty solid purchase at that price for me.
This is an old thread, but seriously, how long do you people expect $10 games to be? I feel like 3-6 hours is pretty much what I expect at this point. Gunpoint was the same price, and same length, and about the same size of developer. Hotline Miami and Gunpoint are pretty much the scope I expect for a $10 game.
