    A seriously mixed bag 0

I finished Hunted: The Demon's Forge yesterday and, upon completion, was filled with a sort of... I don't know even how to describe it. I enjoyed it, certainly enough to finish it, and there was something that compelled me to play it, but by the same token, there were some utterly dumb and broken things about it.But the game does have positive aspects. The game plays nicely enough, and the 'fantasy Gears of War' concept that it's been described as is apt. You'll find yourself dodging enemies, an...

Getting by with a little help from a friend 0

You have to feel at least a tiny bit sorry for Hunted: The Demon's Forge. The developer, inXile Entertainment, doesn't have a lot of big games under their belt, the only ones being A Bard's Tale from 2004 and the canceled Hei$t. The publisher, Bethesda, so far has had a spotty track record with their games from the okay-ish Wet to the meh Brink and the horrible Rogue Warrior. The release date? The week before E3 where everyone will be talking about the big games, the surprise announcements and n...

A potentially great game stuck in a hollow shell 2

As cooperative based action-RPGs go, Hunted: The Demon's Forge treads a careful path. So careful, mind you, that it barely tries to do anything imaginative to grab your undivided attention. Whether it be the story, combat, or core mechanics of the game, Hunted is a supercharged mothball of lost potential. From the mind of Brian Fargo, this is something rather hard to believe. The mercenaries of... well, somewhere. As cooperative based action-RPGs go, Hunted: The D...

    NO GEARS 1

Here lies one of the first games I've purchased for quite some time that wasn't at least partially based on metacritic score. I went out and blindly picked it up, due to it being co-op and role playing/dungeon crawler. It was a hybrid I've been dying to see, and the fact it sported both elements, I had to get it. Now, where I think this game fails is in it's overall marketing. It's not a great Gears of War type game. It's not really like gauntlet. Hell, it's not even like diablo. It's not really...

Hunted: The Demon's Forge review 0

For games like Hunted: The Demon's Forge, it really makes me have to re-evaluate what it means to play a new game based on a popular older one. After all, when you have a game like this that essentially takes the combat system of Gears of War and gives it a fantasy genre flavor, how could it not at least be great? But the thing is, Hunted: The Demon's Forge is actually pretty mediocre; even if it did imitate from the best. The problem wasn't necessarily that playing a Gears of War game with sword...

    Embarrassing. 0

I wanted to love Hunted, I really did. It's right up my alley. Swords, demons, inappropriate female armor, Lucy Lawless - hell, I preordered it and took a day off from work. The back of the box said "co-op perfected." Oh man.So you're Caddoc or E'lara, demons are invading, and it's time to A) kill them and B) earn some bucks. The two mercenaries have an easy, slightly competitive friendship that is, frankly, a lot of fun to watch. Caddoc, the bald human mercenary, is a careful tactician in chara...
