What is there to hate about Hydro Thunder? This game was awesome in arcades that had like 8 of them hooked together.

I LOVED this game.  I actually imported a Dreamcast in early 1999, but Hydro Thunder is what convinced me to buy a US region Dreamcast as well, heh.

The Dreamcast port was like 70% as good graphically as the arcade version, there has never been a 100% port of HT to home.

I would come into arcades and get tons of free plays due to my mastery of the Dreamcast version, noone could beat me and I had ALL the #1 times in the arcade.

Someone needs to make another game with this style with as good gameplay as the original, none of those spinoff titles like Arctic Thunder were nearly as good.

The console versions were dumb-ed down compared to the arcade version IMO. But that might be my childhood memory kicking in.

4 Wheel Thunder is just as awesome. Not the arcade version, the Dreamcast game, which wasn't actually developed by Midway, or intended as a Thunder game until they decied to publish it. It kinda showed that not all levels were made with the speed boosts in mind but overall it looked amazing, run @ silky smooth 60 fps, and had awesome feel to the cars as they bounced up and down with the road bumps. Basically the complete opposite of the mediocre arcade game by Midway.

I had this game for PS.  Great game.  Nothing's better than jumping a boat on to land grabbing a boost or two, skidding back into water into a short-cut.  Clearly where SSX got all their ideas ;)

I played the crap out of this game back in the day on the Dreamcast.

I got another copy about a couple of weeks ago. It's just as great as I remember.
