Game, extended interactive cutscene, or both?
Indigo Prophecy is a game neither ahead of it's time, nor can it be considered passe. Taking it's design cues from a variety of sources like Metal Gear Solid, the handheld game Simon, and even the X-Files what you get with the end result is a product that successfully navigates each obstacle to deliver an action packed, emotion filled affair. It is in the story that Indigo truly shines. Initially taking control of the main character, Lucas, you will find yourself a murderer, unaware of what he has done, determined to solve his crime before the cops come to get him. Scratch that, before you come to get him. Yeah, you switch characters at varying points in the game, eventually taking the reigns of the detectives charged with solving the coffee shop massacre that Lucas is held responsible for. It is with such twists in the story and the meshing of several gameplay elements that Indio Prophecy stands as a game with no equal. That is not to say it is the best game ever made, only that very few games reach the level of being able to make an indelible impression on your brain for several years after.
