    Overview

Indy 500 (not to be confused with the 1969 arcade, 1977 Atari 2600, and 1987 Atari ST games of the same name) is a 3D open-wheel car racing game developed by Sega's AM1 division and released by Sega for arcades (using their Sega Model 2 hardware) on July 1995.

A spiritual successor to Sega's 1992 racing game Virtua Racing, Indy 500 is loosely based on the annual race of the same name and features an officially licensed recreation of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
