So yeah I just finished playing the mission called The Price and man, it sucks that Trish dies, at first I made the choice to save her instead of the doctors, and then I get screwed. So I reload to before the mission to do it again and save the doctors and her this time...
I get screwed again and yeah...she dies, you get screwed either way, the cutscene was so sad that I actually shed a tear, didnt cry though, Im not ashamed to admit that
Atleast she died seeing me as a hero I suppose, good job SuckerPunch, you made me actually care about the characters I guess
So did any of this happen to any of you or am I alone in this? I havent finished the game though so no spoilers beyond this point please :)

inFamous
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released May 26, 2009
inFamous is a third-person open-world action game in which players take control of Cole, an urban explorer / bike messenger changed by a mysterious blast that grants him electricity-based superpowers.
Wow that sucks....(spoilers)
Yeah it bummed me out a fair bit -the first time i went to save trish- which was strange - as i knew it was the 'wrong' thing to do - and i'd went through the whole game being good
" Yeah it bummed me out a fair bit -the first time i went to save trish- which was strange - as i knew it was the 'wrong' thing to do - and i'd went through the whole game being goodThen when i got screwed i was like- FuckWhole thing made me think of that dark knight scene"
However as soon as that choice of saving Trish or the doctors came along I saved her, and then I tried the other way and as I said before, screwed either way
" She dies even if you choose to save her? What happens? "
It was sad not being able to save her. I hope it wasn't just to clumsily justify making Cole more "eXtr3m3" in the next installment.
"@Milkman said:It turns out that she was actually one of the doctors since all the hung people have bags on their heads. Then when you try saving the doctors to save her, she actually IS in the proper spot and therefore dies. It's kinda stupid, lazyness on the developers part, but works I guess since they needed to tragedy to happen. "" She dies even if you choose to save her? What happens? "
Kessler is an evil asshole, he wasnt gonna let Cole save her either way
It is kinda lazy of SuckerPunch to not let you save her at all though
I've been thinking about it now that I've seen the ending of the game (at like four a.m. this morning) and I don't think it was lazy, though my personal jury is still out on the 'clumsy' part. He gets all angsty and that's fine. It was sweet that he slept next to her grave, but Trish's death was then another instance of the tiresome, tiresome way that Cole defaults to blaming other people.
At least twice in the game he says "If you hadn't 'X', then 'Y' wouldn't have happened!" (I think it's said to Zeke both times, and he may say some variation to other characters too, but I can't recall right now.) I was thrown right out of the experience when Cole said to Zeke "If you hadn't run off with Kessler, Trish would still be alive!" How does that follow? Zeke's actions had nothing to do with Kessler stringing up Trish, or Cole's inability to save her. Maybe I missed something?
Cole's reactions to Trish's death made me like him a lot less, and that's why I call it clumsy. It seemed like too obvious of a jumping-off point for a more extreme Cole, and he doesn't need more extremeness to be a good character, he needs more subtly and depth. Of course, maybe the brutish angry instinct to "blame others" is just true to his characterization - the guy's a bike messenger, after all. Did he even finish high school? He probably doesn't have a very sophisticated ethical understanding or a complex philosophy. He didn't seem like the classic "sage janitor" archetype (Ex: Will in Good Will Hunting, etc), he seemed like the kind of people Pulp or The Levellers sing about.
In any event... Trish's death. Sucks that you couldn't save her. I can see how it's meant to be a 'lesson' that Cole must learn, but the handling of it was, to me, slightly off. I may be alone on this one. :)
" i was happy when she died. that bitch was still blaming him for everything that happened. "

What aggrivated me about the whole thing was after the moral choice popped up, I had no way of knowing which group was the doctors and which was Trish. Then it's mentioned that I have 30 seconds to make my decision, but how can I when I have no clue which group is which. They did a terrible job on that mission. I could care less that she died, as I figured it was inevitable anyways. I just wish they would of showed on the HUD which group was which. My perfectly good moral standing was tainted with that mission, and that annoyed me.
" @IceCrystal: yeah like even later in the game when you'd do something good for her, shed be like, "i can't forgive you for what you have done but i am glad you are helping out"...or something along those lines. i just wanted to turn and start zapping the shit out of her. "Well initially she blamed him and hated him and that did piss me off too but I understood why. Later in the game as you are playing as a good guy though and rescue her from the bus situation she loves you again and thats when I started liking her character more
No one is more annoying then that asshole on TV though, not even Zeke, Im glad that Kessler killed him, the only smart thing he ever did
Also, the question regarding her being on which rooftop, while I was playing and saved the doctors I saw her on the same roof as the doctors, she is there either way, atleast thats what I saw for myself while playing
Color-coding the dots or something would have helped tremendously. I just scoped out which building had more than one person hanging off of it, which only took like five seconds, but there was no way to tell via the HUD and I was paralyzed in annoyed indecision for a second or two.
Basically, nobody else would actually know that it is not possible to save Trish unless you are as mad a gamer as we are.
But this makes Infamous appeal to me more so. Because of the fact that loads of people here seemed to have reloaded their save JUST becuase a character died. That just seems to show character development, and i like that in a game.
It was an origin story. It was to show that Kessler, even though seemingly evil, did all of this because it was inevitable sure, but because the way he changed things helped Cole become a better person than Kessler was.
It was only sad to me in the end. I never cared about Trish, even when she died, but at the end I saw that they actually had a good life and got to see it. And then you saw that Kessler sacrificed her to make Cole into the better he'd need to be to save more lives than just Trish's.
The game even has Kessler say it's so Cole can be stronger to take on a much larger threat. And for those of you who fought Kessler in the final battle, think about how amazingly strong you'll eventually be!
Can't wait for an inFamous 2. People bitching about not feeling like a real superhero are in for a kick.
Even though I was playing as a hero, when I realized that no matter what I did Trish would die, I went and did the evil path. Because trying to save the woman I love is what I would have done, given the same choice. Besides, the twist of Kessler having lied to Cole about where Trish was just made him seem like so much more of a bastard. I'm glad I ruined his plans to turn me into some kind of electric god, screw all the power in the world if it means that Kessler loses.
