Any duders playing The War Z alpha out there?

Despite it's flaws at the moment (alpha state) i'm having a blast playing, very stressful.

If ya don't know what War Z is you could prob guess it sounds like Day Z mod and it's similar in concept.

The friends list isn't working at the moment but I was wondering if any bombers are playing and would like to join up at some point.

No I'm not a bandit... This is not a trap... heh...

If you're not familiar but interested than check it out at thewarz.com or on youtube.

Let me know if there are any friendlies out there, can team up once friends list is in affect.

Also today is the last day to buy in at a discounted price. (thought I'd let any1 interested know)

Cool, I hope the friends list is working by then.

Should be, they've done some good fixes over the past few days so I'm sure that's a priority.

I'll find ya on here once that's all good and have the ability to meet in game.

Yes, despite it's flaws (which, as you pointed out "duh" is just Alpha trouble) it's a blast.

I'm not enjoying it at all. Compared to Day Z, which is a clunky buggy alpha mod, it's a total mess. I'm glad they altered the inventory system though.

@Kombat: What don't you like about it?

I never played Day Z because I knew it was built on an engine full of jank and was a totally buggy mod. (which I saw from watching vids)

Loved the concept but The War Z seemed like it was a more polished version of that concept which is why I bought into it.

In it's alpha state The War Z already seems less broken with fixes happening every day.

    @Franstone:

I think it's really weird to say that something seems less broken compared to something you've only had any experience through videos that may or may not purposefully show off bugs. Not to call you out or anything! That might not have been how you intended for it to sound or maybe it's just me misunderstanding something! Sorry if that's the case.

I don't really have any experience with either, I'm waiting for the stand-alone Day Z thing.

When I saw the title of this thread, my first thought was "THIS IS THE COACH ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ".

Anyways, back on topic: I am not playing it, but I know some guys that want to get down on it. Seems alright.

@Cloudenvy: Like I said, seems less broken from what I've seen videos of people complaining and experiencing bugs.

This is not a fact, just my own personal impression from what I've gathered.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, not trying to win over any DayZ players, just want to meet up with some fellow friendlies that may be in the GB community.

All I know from experience with the Arma 2 engine was in the demo and I did not like what I saw.

Everyone knows Arma is full of jank, I'll give them another chance w/ Arma III.

It's actually pretty fun right now, granted it has like 1% of its content. Still, I'm sure I'll jump over to the Day Z standalone when it comes out, but for the price you cant go wrong.

@TheHumanDove: Exactly, I'll prob check out the DayZ stand-alone as well.

For $20 (to get into the beta on 31st) or $30 (to get in the alpha now) ya can't go wrong.

The devs seem to be taking a lot of input from the community as well.

I planned to get Arma just to play the Day Z mod, but it looks like it would be cheaper to just buy War Z. I'll be playing later on today after I finish homework.

I don't understand what this is...on one hand they say it's an MMO but then towards the bottom of their home page they say that private servers will be available for rent?

I was having a little bit of fun with it before i kept getting clubbed in the back of the head by randoms.. I think it has nothing on DayZ and I hope they improve a lot of the systems by the Beta..

@KrypticKiller: It's way smaller then the DayZ Map but the Alpha maps like 25% of the main map I think..

@MB: I think it's the developers not sure what an MMO is

You'll have servers that allow over 100-something people eventually, but you can also rent your own server and lower the player count as low as 30 or something.

Does it have permadeath? That's pretty much the only thing that would make a zombie MMO appealing to me.

I believe so. There's a 'hardcore mode' that sounds about right

Day 2 of "alpha" already hacks released.

    No Caption Provided

It's almost as if this is a quick mod of War INC to cash in on DayZ success. But the developer said they've been making the game for over two years, so that couldn't possibly be the case. Even though it's only their word. You can trust them, it's not like they were caught sock-puppet marketing their game on the DayZ forums multiple times. -_-

I have played both Day Z and War Z. Although they are similar, they still give us different game experiences. I also post several stories about them on DotMMO.

LOL. I'm a member of another forum one of the War Z/War Inc. devs frequents (not a gaming related site, although there are threads about it) Granted, he's not a producer or an executive, but from what he said i'm inclined to believe it isn't just cut and dry 'durr add zombies' though obviously a lot carried over. Using a (probably) 95% similar engine code doesn't help with giving the game a unique feel either, but hey, they're a small studio. IIRC he said they'd been working on something for Ps3 prior to War Inc, and this is an offshoot of that.

The War Z is fucking horrible. Its a shameless cash grab and does not deserve your money in its current state. No respectable dev will charge customers full price when all they can offer in return is an alpha.
