besides Blizzard's stuff Destiny seems to be the only other separate property in their stable. how long until Bungie is pumping out COD map packs eh??

@ripelivejam: Activision doesn't own Bungie (I understand that it's a joke, but still). They have that 10-year Destiny contact with Activision though.

But yeah, Activision is a CoD factory at this point. They're earning a lot of money because of that focus (and because of Blizzard, WoW is still a cash cow, and I'm guessing Hearthstone is earning them a ton too), but they're just incredibly boring as a result of it.

Might as well merge Neversoft with Infinity Ward. Neversoft hasn't released an original game since Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, back in 2010. They've helped with COD Ghosts, had a few projects cancelled. So as much money as Activision has why don't they try and create new IPs. Dump so much money in COD, they can't get promising franchises off the ground such as Prototype and Blur. Here's Activision's release schedule every year, Spider-Man, Transformers, Cabela's, Skylanders and maybe an odd game here and there nothing worth noting. Destiny is a definate exception to Activision's normal policies. But I'm sure everyone was chomping at the bit to get Bungie's next title.

A little bummed that the Neversoft name is going away. always enjoyed the eyeball at the beginning of their games. But I understand, this isn't goodbye - it's just a renaming of sorts.

Coming with the THUNDA, Scoops! Crazy yet predictable news sad to say. CoD: World Tour: American Wasteland in the pipeline.

If this merger results in a game that has even a passing resemblance and quality to the first five-or-so Call of Duties, then this will have been a smart move.

that sounds less like a merge and more like they consumed all of neversoft. im sure it's better for neversoft obviously or they wouldn't have done it.

The corporate-speak in the press release is super yucky. Was this intended for the investors to see? It would have been nice to see a little more TLC given to the Neversoft name.

And here I was thinking that Neversoft wasn't around anymore.

I guess they made that Neverdead game or whatever it was called a couple years ago.

Also kind of sucks to see the Neversoft name retired. I had loads of fun playing the Neversoft developed Tony Hawk games from Pro Skater to THUG 2.

Hopefully this merger gives Infinity Ward a bit of a boost to help it make better CoD games.

Yes, but for the name of a studio I think DAINTY INTERWOVEN RIFFS has a nice ring to it.

I wonder if Infinity Ward sees this as their future--put out as many Call of Dutys as possible until they burn out, then spend their time working on DLC on the next big thing until their studio finally closes. Activistion seems like a really depressing place; these franchises could last so much longer if they gave them a chance to breath more.

Does this mean there is a slight chance we could get the firefight game mode from the tony hawks series as a mini game / multiplayer variant in the next infinity ward call of duty title? Hell I'd even settle for a guitar gun! Jokes aside this is sad news no matter which way you put it. Neversoft defined a generation of extreme sports games with the tony hawks franchise. And later made what I personally feel was the best guitar hero (3). I'm just glad we got the games they made back then for future generations to appreciate!
