The DC Universe's most powerful heroes and villains collide in this fighting game from the creators of the Mortal Kombat series.
The Mortal Kombat Team Has A New Fighting Game
First I was all like, "Oh noes they're going to neuter the game by cutting out the fatalities again!"
Then I was all like, "Waitaminute, this isn't a MK game, so there wouldn't be fatalities anyway!"
And now I'm all like, "So what are they going to do to make it interesting? Is it just going to be a straight-up fighting game? Tell me more..."
MK was my favorite fighting game to come out in years and DC is my favorite comic publisher so yah, I'm pumped for this. I really hope that they use one or two lesser known heroes for this, Superboy or Blue Beetle would would be the coolest thing ever in a fighting game.
This game looks like it'll have the same sort of disconnect most non-fighting game characters getting the fighting game treatment have in that balancing out everyone's abilities to match each other sort of destroys the fiction. Since Superman is ridiculously powerful, they have to make Batman able to punch a dude 30 stories into the air through 3 walls. Loved what this team did w/Mortal Kombat, especially the story mode but not so interested in playing a fighting game with heroes that don't actually have their own powers -_-;;
if this is the stop-gap before MK10 then i'll definitely be playing it. hoping its balanced, not as buggy as MK9, and tournament friendly.
I can't be the only one that thought MvC3 when I saw that trailer. I'm into fighters and MK9 though I wasn't all in (it had serious issues for competitive play) I felt it afford a lot of cool fan fare. I like how the attacks they do makes sense. Harley Quinn with her guns, Superman punching someone into space, being thrown through a building. More fan fare.. Hope it doesn't play like MK9..
I enjoy the slew of people complaining about character nerfs and ridiculous scenarios.
They act like Marvel vs Capcom isn't the exact same level of complete stupid, and thats worked at least 4 times. Its a fighting game, all I care about is seeing my favorite characters in a fun and decently balanced game. I don't give a shit if or why Ambush Bug can take down Amazo, as long as its awesome.

So this is basically DC Universe Vs Mortal Kombat again, except they're stripping out the MK guys.
Main problem still remains, though: Power imbalance. It's worse in DC than in Marvel simply because their primary characters are so... well, they've got Superman, who can pretty much kill anyone with one arm tied behind his back, Batman, who's just a regular dude, and the Flash, who shouldn't ever even get hit.
Are they going to bring back that stupid "Rage" mechanic that leveled the playing field, allowing Batman to go toe to toe with Superman? I guess they're going to have to at least do something like that. I mean, Harley Quinn vs Wonder Woman? Wonder Woman is bulletproof, and bullets are all harley has. She definitely has no chance putting her in a full nelson or whatever it was she tried in the trailer. She's a pushover even for Batman, all she generally has is thugs and hyenas and I doubt she has that here. Harley vs Superman? That just gets ridiculous at a certain point.
Totally guessing here, but I suspect that at least for story mode, the fights will be roughly power balanced, or at least make some sense character wise. Come 'arcade' mode though, and most of that would go straight out the window. But truly, who cares?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWEEEEEESSSSSSSOOOOOOMMMEEEEE.
MK9 was my most played game of last year by a margin of 200+ hours.
Suddenly, 2013 seems that much farther away. I almost wish they hadn't told me about it,; if they announced it and put it out in two days I would still preorder it in seconds.
Although I loved the new MK game, MK vs. DC did not click with me at all, so I'm a little wary. Hopefully they can pull off another great story mode like in MK, but I'm not holding my breath. DC is kinda lame, with a few exceptions.
my GAWWWWD. I AM SO HYPED FOR THIS. CANT WAIT!!!!
also people complaining about power imbalance...... its a freaking video game MVC has done that for years, the rage mechanic in MK vs DC was sufficient enough mechanic for a videogame to justify the power imbalance. I see something like that happing here
Well, this is unexpected news. Not that NetherRealm is doing another game set in the DC Universe but that they chose not to use 'DC Universe' or 'Justice League' or any other brands associated with the giant comic publisher. Still, from what they've shown the gameplay will most likely be very similar to that of Mortal Kombat.
