It's time for the Second Annual Giant Bomb Indianapolis 125

A look back at last year's event:

So here we are, one year later, with the real life race and the official iRacing races in the books. However, the real race is on June 5th! Here's the details:

    • Friday, June 5th; session opens up at 9:00PM (1:00AM GMT)
    • 40 minutes practice, 10 minutes qualifying, 50 lap race
    • Cautions on with lucky dog (and we'll wave everyone around until lap 30*), single file restarts, unlimited fast repairs
    • Fuel 65% capacity (12 gallons)**
    • Fixed setup. We'll use iRacing's default Indianapolis race set.

We want this race to be exclusive to Giant Bomb members, so spread the word and hopefully we'll get a nice field of duders on the grid. The race will be found on the hosted tab, but you must be a member of the Giant Bomb league (which we all are, but just in case anyone exited it).

    * ** these are subject to change if anyone has any suggestions/ideas.

    Let's do this!

If we limited fuel to 65% would that mean 2 stops? And after about how many laps in this car are new tires needed?

Tires will last the whole stint, but the car gets pretty loose after about 20-25 laps now. I think limiting fuel would be good just so we don't run into that :D

With the setup I used for the 500 last week, I had the weight jacker at +7 early in the run and then quickly had to bump it back to +3 by the end to keep it from snapping around. And yes, you'll want to raise it 1 click for turn 1 and lower it for turn 3. Sometimes I was even adjusting it between turns 1 and 2, pretty scary doing that though.

The default setup is probably safer though.

@slowbird can you not adjust weight jacker on the fly in the fixed setup? I figured that was something like fuel map that could be adjusted no matter what

@connorpoz: oh crap, I forgot. Nope, can't change the weight jacker with the fixed setup. I don't think you can change the fuel mapping either. So, everyone prepare to pit for tires :D

65% fuel is 12 gallons, and that'll get you 23 laps full-throttle in 5th gear. That'll work! And we'll wave everyone around until lap 30, then you have to earn it. Sound good?
