The Giant Bomb Racing Team tackles the iRacing Nürburgring 24h!
This coming weekend iRacing is running the first ever "iRacing presents: 24 Hours of Nürburgring" event and after a succesful Daytona 24 earlier this year (read all about it here!) Team Giant Bomb is ready for their next challenge: a full 24 hours at the Green Hell. Our weapon of choice? This time we'll be competing in the slowest class with the new Global Mazda MX-5 Cup! New to iRacing in just this build, the new 2016 Global Mazda MX-5 cup offers a manageable driving experience that might actually allow us to finish 24 hours at this brutal track. Other classes in the race will include the Ruf RT 12R C-Spec, Kia Optima and the Audi R8 LMS so we'll need to look out for faster traffic trying to lap us! That should make for quite a race as the Nordschleife part is incredibly narrow and dangerous. You'll be able to watch the action on Twitch starting at 09:00am EDT on Saturday over at @Trace's Twitch channel (link)! Don't miss it, hang out, chat and ask questions! Drivers that are not currently in the car will be more than happy to answer them.
Two of our usual drivers will unfortunately miss this event, but we have a great international line-up of participants nonetheless. Since iRacing (and by that also the stream) will show real-life names on the timing board, allow me to introduce you to our team for this glorious endeavour:
Ryan "datarez" Ligon
Nick "slowbird" Zier
Jörg "IroN1c" Beutner
Sebastian "SebW" Winterflood
David "DavyC412" ter Stal
And of course our car:
If we don't crash horribly you'll be able to watch the whole 24h! We hope to see some of you guys there. Pray for a good result! Or at least a finish.
