    Overview

J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings: Volume One is a top-down action RPG/adventure game that follows the story of The Fellowship of the Ring, the first book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The player begins as Frodo and travel through several locations from the novel ending in the fight against the Balrog.

Utilizing the SNES multitap up to 6 players can play together as different members of the fellowship. The game intended to have a sequel, continuing the story of the novels, but the lackluster sales of this title ended those plans.

This game should not be confused with the episodic PC game that was also designated "volume one" of The Lord of the Rings.
