    James Cameron's Avatar: The Game

Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Dec 01, 2009

Set two years before the James Cameron film of the same name, Avatar: The Game takes place on Pandora, a gas giant's moon, and pits the merciless humans against Pandora's natives, the Na'vi.

Why would they release the game before the movie ?

I don't get it. why would they wanna give us the chance to see what Pandora is like and learn many facts, a number of which could be fatal spoilers, BEFORE seeing the movie which is the main and big event ?

I refused to try the game and wanted to see the movie first, and i did this evening (in 3D) and i definitely wanna beat the game no matter how 'bad' it is (edit: because i liked the movie). though i dont think it looked that bad and its just our high standrads / our uneasiness about the whole fancy AVATAR BUSINESS that made us totally diss the game.

i didnt say its great, i didnt say its not that bad at all, i said im sure its not that.bad.  dont make a fool out of yourself and tell me that it was nothing of a masterpiece, i KNOW THAT.

Anyway could anyone answer this thread's question ? thanks (:

Because it's a movie game, meant to generate hype.

By your logic I should play through the shitty Fight Club game or the shitty Reservoir Dogs game just because I liked the movies. If everyone was like you movie games would sell a hell of a lot more.

One reason is to generate hype. another is that often movie based games have huge plot-holes in them. So,if you like game, you would be even more interested in the movie.

The game is set 6 years or so before the film so anything that happens then has little to do with what's going on in the film.
