History

In most continuities, Jetfire was a friend and colleague of Starscream before the war on Cybertron, and was initially aligned with the Decepticons when they traveled to Earth. However, he was never comfortable with their methods and after several climactic events these differences of opinion ultimately caused him to leave them and join the Autobots. He is almost always described as a calculating scientist who believes technological advancement is the way to defeat the Decepticons. However, this nature does not stop him from being one of the first to join a battle, and his flying ability helped him to this end. Originally, Jetfire transformed into a VF-1S Valkyrie, a fictional jet from the Macross/ Robotech universe.
Revenge of the Fallen

In the 2009 video game, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Jetfire follows much the same story as he did in the movie of the same name. He was not a playable character in the single-player campaign, but was included in an August 27, 2009 DLC package that made him a playable character in multiplayer modes. He was voiced by Clive Revill. In this continuity, he transforms into a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.
