Overview
Jīng Kē Xīn Chuán (荊軻新傳) is a role-playing game developed by Hummer Technology and published by Supertone Electronics. It was the first game ever developed by Hummer. It was an unlicensed title only sold "officially" in Chinese-speaking territories (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Macau), but reproductions have been made throughout Japan and Russia as well.
The game is centered around a historical figure named Jīng Kē on his quest to assassinate the first emperor of unified China, Qín Shǐ Huáng. In real life, this plot failed, but it is the ultimate endgame of players in this title, and completely possible.
Players actually begin the game as Tàizǐ Dān, the crown prince for whom Jīng Kē works as a retainer for, and add the titular character to the party later.
Jīng Kē Xīn Chuán plays like traditional RPGs and is most commonly compared with Dragon Quest. In addition to Huáng's forces, players encounter and battle fantastical creatures, including ones borne from Chinese mythology.
