His programming credits stretch through his entire career back to high school, where he wrote Atari 800 and Commodore 64 games with Gregg Tavares, Greg Marquez, and Ron Nakada; all of whom went on to work as game developers. After several years working at Virgin Interactive, he and Tavares founded Big Grub studios. Big Grub shipped a handful of titles before folding, and Alvarado left for inXile just in time to be a core member of the team responsible for the 2004 comedy/musical/RPG The Bard's Tale. He held a high-level managerial/directorial role for every inXile title released through 2016. He is currently Technical Director in a New IP division at Blind Squirrel Games.
He is a marathon runner, and currently holds a brown belt in judo.
