Overview
Jonas Savimbi was an Angolan politician who sought independence for the nation from Portuguese colonists.
Savimbi survived many assassination attempts throughout his life, and was wrongfully declared dead several times. He died in 2002 during a firefight with government troops in Angola.
Savimbi appears as a supporting character in Black Ops II. He assists Alex Mason and Jason Hudson in finding Frank Woods in return for laying down suppressing fire onto MPLA soldiers.
Controversy
As a result of being portrayed in Black Ops II, Savimbi's surviving children issued a lawsuit against Activision. They stated that Savimbi was portrayed as a "big halfwit who wanted to kill everybody", whereas Activision would argue that he was portrayed as a "political leader and strategist". The lawsuit would soon be rejected.
