Journey had a great soundtrack so it's cool to see it being rewarded for it. Austin Wintory is getting a Grammy Nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. It'll be competing with movies like Hugo, The Artist, and many more. Hopefully it actually wins! Here's the link to the Grammy nomination: http://www.grammy.com/nominees?genre=11

Journey is thatgamecompany's third release for Sony. Roam the lands discovering the history of an ancient civilization on a trek toward a distant mountain. Go at it alone or explore with strangers online.

The album is also five bucks on iTunes, so it's really a no brainer to buy it right now.
It's about $9 for us Aussies, but screw it I bought it just now as it is a beautiful soundtrack.
Awesome! I should really play Journey. But around this time of year I'm hesitant buying things regular price, lest they go on sale days later. Having PS+ doesn't make things easier too.
I was all set on getting Vanquish but now that the EU store is getting it for free for PS+ subscribers, I'm probably just gonna wait until the NA subscribers get it too.
ANYWAYS. I should really play Journey.
I haven't played Journey, because I don't have a PS3, but I have been listening to the soundtrack quite a bit. It's amazing, and Wintory definitely deserves the nomination.
@TheHT: You should really give them your money. It is one of my favorite games of this generation. It had been so long since a game elicited such joy from me, but soaring through the air and surfing on the sand were just so amazing. And the coop was genius, exploring that world with some random person with only chirps to comunicate. I think I'm going to play it a few more times.
I'm so tired of hearing everyone circle jerk this game, and now I get to hear it some more. Totally unworthy of the praise.
I bought and played the game today after hearing this news, and after finishing the game I had to buy the soundtrack. Such a relaxing game and soundtrack. Reminds me a lot of the shadow of the colossus OST which is great because that's probably my favourite game soundtrack of all time.
It's a stunning work of aural art.
When you are nearing the end of the game and Apotheosis drops. My god.

It's also the first video game to actually get a Grammy nomination! :O
Didn't Civ 4 get a Grammy?
@Bourbon_Warrior: Baba Yetu was nominated independently of Civ IV following its release on an unrelated album. Journey is the first complete video game score to be nominated.
Bought the soundtrack when it came out on iTunes and ordered the signed CD a couple of months ago. Austin Wintory seems like a really neat guy, so it's nice to see him get some recognition. Pretty heavy competition, though, so I'd be surprised if he won.
But, from what I understand, lol grammys.
@SpiderCabaret: Thats pretty cool but I'd still give it to Hans Zimmer his music on the Dark Knight films was great.

You can all like whatever you want. That's fine. But I just don't get it, having played/beaten it. The way people talk about the game like "oh it was this amazing experience", "oh I cried", etc. Really? Did we play the same game?
Cool, we've established your distaste for the game. Glad that's over. It's fine you don't like it but to say its soundtrack is totally unworthy of praise is stupid.@Phatmac said:

Like just about every other game's music. When people talk about it, I end up saying "I guess it probably had music, most games do, but I don't remember it". Even though I think the Grammy are even less credible as an indicator of quality than most academy awards, it's nice to see games get wider recognition
Journey definitely deserves to win. The music was one of the aspects that made that game so powerful, and it is definitely among my favorite soundtracks for any media.
I've probably played Journey through over 30 times, but it's been a while and listening to this music is enticing me.
One of these days it will be common to hop on and never see another journeyer. It's going to be sad when that happens and I feel like I have to get many experiences while I can.

Taste is subjective, and so on. This game was a more powerful experience for a lot of people, don't be so bothered by it.
Personally all I have to do is swing over to the icon on the XMB and listen. The music is immediately emotional to me, it can still stop me in my tracks. It can be attached to your own journey so easily, and is eminently re-playable, re-interpretable.
